All I’m saying is that it might be time for another inquisition…

You should reconsider that, remembering the history of the first inquisition. At this point, laughing at both of these is appropriate, right up until they start invading your home or place of worship. Then the Gospel of John Moses Browning applies.
If I was Pope for a day I would have started by burning pedo priests at the stake.
This Church went from covering up a pedo priest to letting him be an open pervert from the pulpit.
The Church needs a purge, call it what you will.
So churches allow grooming now. Great.
ELCA? (Clicks on through.) Of course.
And please be aware – Satanic Temple are atheists, they do not believe in a literal Satan. They are simply demonstrating the hypocrisy of the religious right to use government property to promote their religion.
While I personally am “Just an atheist” & not a member of the Satanic Temple – I’m reasonably certain nobody will find fault with the 7 core Tenants of Satanism:
THERE ARE SEVEN FUNDAMENTAL TENETS
I
One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.
II
The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.
III
One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.
IV
The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one’s own.
V
Beliefs should conform to one’s best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one’s beliefs.
VI
People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one’s best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.
VII
Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.
I know what they’ve trying to do. But going out of your way to mock Christians during their second my holy celebration and drowning of their holiest of prayers with your mockery is a dick move, a dick move worthy of chippering.
Atheists are like gays in that as long as you quietly go about your business being normal people, accepting that you are a minority in society, the overwhelming majority of people don’t have a problem with you.
When you start to thumb your nose at the majority and make a mockery of their beliefs and go after their children, the people will turn against you and you deserve to be stomped back into your place.
J.KB — But going out of your way to mock Christians during their second my holy celebration and drowning of their holiest of prayers with your mockery is a dick move, a dick move worthy of chippering.
It’s a Dick move that’s a violation of the First Amendment to have your “Holiest” celebrations in a Government building. Move it to the Church the Atheists leave you alone. Do it in a Government Building and you’re violating the 1st.
To many of us Constitutionalists – Violating the First, is as bad as violating the 2nd. And we will fight you. Remember the first is Freedom TO OFFEND. Not freedom from being offended.
The First is also, to be as f-ing stupid as you can be. You’re good.
The First guarantees freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. Kind of an important difference there.
How can you have Freedom of Religion if you do not have Freedom FROM Religion?
Do you deny that putting Christian iconography in a government building is “Establishing a Religion?”
Yes. This country is based on Christianity, but no one can make you believe in anything. Big difference.
EN2 SS – How is this Country founded on Christianity?
Christians from the founding we’re actually quite upset you know.
From 1787 there is an Official Government Document that states: “ As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion”
Can you provide a source otherwise?
I was wondering how long before you started your lieberal BS. Didn’t take long, but then never does for people like you. Are you some smart, you didn’t need to read the Declaration of Independence? Or too slow to comprehend it? I vote the latter. I wish you a better new year, it seems you have no where to go but up.
More specifically the First Amendment prohibits established religion and enforces separation of church and state. This precludes “official” religion like the Church of England and by extension bans religious symbols on government property. This should also make things like Senate chaplains and prayers in Congress unconstitutional even though it’s common.
@Slow Joe Crow: The separation aspect is from one of Jefferson’s letters. It isn’t in the Amendment.
True, Jefferson’s letter describing the effects of the amendment.
See the hypocritical Christians do this ALL the time.
For example the famous 10 commandments monuments in Courthouses. Did you know those were mostly erected as a publicity stunt for the Charlton Heston movie?
If the current pope were to start an inquisition, you can bet it wouldn’t be to identify and punish “preachers” like that one.
