There are days when your socks are knocked off. Is it accidental journalisming or is this common place for them?

It is even more confusing when the call sign is “KPQ”. For those that don’t know, radio call signs start with “W” east of the Mississippi and with a “K” to the west. Generally a “K” call sign translates to “Oh My God, they said what!”

Can You Legally Carry A Firearm In Public In Washington?Dave Bernstein, Can You Legally Carry A Firearm in Public In Washington?, News Radio 560 KPQ, (last visited Jun. 17, 2023) I’m cringing already.

The 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right of American citizens to keep and bear arms. There are federal gun laws but gun control policy can vary widely from state to state.

The most vigorous debate over gun control has involved so-called “assault-style rifles”. in recent years. Important changes at the state level have impacted the right to carry firearms in public places.

Where’s the catch?

Open carry of firearms is generally defined as carrying a firearm that is either partially or fully visible.

In Washington, open carry is allowed for both long guns and handguns.

Come on, where is the zinger? Where is the slam of conservatives and gun owners? What’s WRONG with you?

That’s the extent of their reporting. Clean, clear, short. The rest of the article is a table of states and the legal state of open and concealed carry in those states. Nothing untoward.

Feel free to give them a click and positive feedback.

A small warning. When a state has open carry but concealed is permitted, shitty cops will sometimes claim that having any part of your arm covered is actually “concealed”. That means that if you are wearing an OWB holster and your shirt tail covers a part of the grip, you could be charged with concealed carry without a permit.

In the same way, but reverse, some cops will claim that if your concealed firearm prints or is observed it is “open carry”. If the stated doesn’t allow open carry you are in for a bad day.

  1. Here in the Gunshine State, the unintentional display of a firearm is not a concern –Fl. Statute 790.053 “Except as otherwise provided by law and in subsection (2), it is unlawful for any person to openly carry on or about his or her person any firearm or electric weapon or device. It is not a violation of this section for a person licensed to carry a concealed firearm as provided in s. 790.06(1), and who is lawfully carrying a firearm in a concealed manner, to briefly and openly display the firearm to the ordinary sight of another person, unless the firearm is intentionally displayed in an angry or threatening manner, not in necessary self-defense.”

    1. Why does FL get that stupid nickname like they are the second coming of Sam Colt, when every single pro-gun law they enact was done by IN(and others) first?

      1. Birdog357, it’s called ‘poetic license’ used by a Floridian who employs a play on words, distorting the nickname “Sunshine State” to Gunshine State, for the purpose of celebrating the progress Florida has made over the past thirty years toward embracing the Second Amendment and giving heartburn to nine out of sixty-seven counties in the state. It has nothing to do with which state was first. Celebrating our political accomplishments down here in the Bass Fishing Capitol of the World doesn’t mean we’re better than……you and your state’s Second Amendment status.
        .
And by the way, “Indiana” is the “Hoosier State” and it wasn’t first to use the nickname to name the state in 1816, which commemorates native Indians who originally lived there (Land of Indians) there are many states with an Indiana, and “Hoosier” was borrowed from Virginia, the Carolinas, and Tennessee as a term for a backwoodsman, a rough countryman, or a country bumpkin.

  2. There in lies the problem- rights and laws are subject to the interpretation of the COP. And then its up to you to prove innocence….as ol bill c once said- don’t ask don’t tell….

  3. I think it says more that we’re flabbergasted by the fact they’re reporting w/o an obvious slant.
