I counted twelve rounds at point blank range for this guy to lay down and stop advancing.

The fight will last as long as it needs to.

Maintain your situational awareness and act accordingly.

You may have shot your attacker but he may not want to die before he hurts you.

  1. When the suicidee threw the club, the sheriff should have gone hand to hand combat and controlled the idiot. /s

    1. One shot stops are from:
      – direct hit on the (right parts of the) brain,
      – air gapping the brain (e.g major damage to.spinal cord), or
      – broken infrastructure (pelvis, leg bone).
and note that for those last two it’s not necessarily a full shutdown, they just can’t come at you as fast.
      .
Everything else is by exsanguination, and that can take time. If the bad guy has the will to continue the fight, he can at least keep trying.

  2. Even at that range, there is a good possibility the sheriff missed a shot or two. Will have to check the video again and try to count the impacts.
Regardless. The assailant was hit multiple times and kept coming. Pretty much puts that last nail into the “If you need more than one shot to stop your attacker, you suck at shooting.” argument.

    1. I’m a firm believer in the “he kept bouncing when I shot him, so I kept shooting until he quit bouncing” attitude. If he wiggles while I’m reloading, I’ll bounce him some more.
