You know those weird and obvious warning labels? It is because of him.
I mean, I love Wile E Coyote, but never thought about doing what he did.
Where a Hispanic Catholic, and a Computer Geek write about Gun Rights, Self Defense and whatever else we can think about.

Semi-retired like Vito Corleone before the heart attack. Consiglieri to J.Kb and AWA. I lived in a Gun Control Paradise: It sucked and got people killed. I do believe that Freedom scares the political elites.

It does, however, look like his chute failed to open. Not like he jumped without one.
If I’m seeing correctly he pulled his ripcord while he was tumbling, and while his pilot chute deployed it got wrapped around his body instead of deploying the main chute. I’d say he’s lucky to be alive, but that would just display a masterful grasp of the obvious.
Base jumping. Something I want to get into, but any Base jumper knows he’s taking his life in his own hands with every jump.
Base jumping is one of those sports where everything has to go perfectly in order for you to survive. You get one shot and one shot only. Far be it from me to tel people what hobbies they can partake in, but really people, go jump out of a plane. At least you get two chutes and some time to deal with a problem.
I have a thousand skydives under my belt, mostly in the ’90s. I considered the base jumping thing for many years. I’ve been with friends to the New River Gorge bridge in WV more than once and they all had great experiences.
Margin for error is low in base jumping. In a bandit jump, which most are, my friend scaled, predawn, a 1k tower in MD and then had an off heading opening and ended up riding a guy wire down to the ground. He didn’t get injured but thanks his lucky stars.
Moral: Have a couple grand of free air below you when it’s container opening time. But it’s your dice and you take your chances.
According to the story he fractured his spine, pelvis and legs but was able to walk 3 mos later. Big whoop. He’ll still be in pain for the rest is his life. Having worked in a PT clinic, the best analogy for his recovery is a slinky that got stretched too far: it’ll never be like it was.
