But it reminds me of a story I heard on the radio in Chicago many years ago. I hope it’s true:
In the Philippines, kidnapping for ransom is a cottage industry. The victims are usually the children of rich families who pay the ransom and don’t tell anyone. In this case, the victim, a grown daughter, decided to tell the story of her kidnapping. The headline in the paper read, “Heiress Bares Snatch.”
I don’t think the Filipino editor knew much about American slang.
