The teenage son of Mayor Rahm Emanuel was the victim of a robbery outside the mayor’s Lakeview home Friday night, a spokesperson from the mayor’s office confirms.
Police were called to the 4200 block of North Hermitage at 10:05 p.m. Friday for a report of a robbery on the street where there would normally already be a police presence.
Emanuel’s 17-year-old son went out to make a phone call when he was jumped by two men who stole the teen’s cell phone.
A police report obtained by the Chicago Tribune says that he was put in a chokehold by one of the suspects and punched in the face by the other. Emanuel reportedly suffered a fat lip and chipped tooth.

I really would love to give a dose of Schadenfreude, but I won’t visit the sins of the Father on the Son.
Now if it would have happened to the mayor himself….
Soooo… Where were his security detail???
I wish something like this would’ve happened to Richie Daley or one of his sons… That would’ve been AWESOME!!!
Glad the son is ok – never willing to wish harm to a parent’s child…
But…

Wonder how much extra tax payer money will be spent now ramping up the security detail for the block his house is on…
From Second City Cop; There are already two or more parked in front, two or more parked in the alley, a heavy weapons car nearby, a roving patrol.
That’s the Mayors security detail and yet his kid was robbed right out on the street. That takes some bold thieves.
Bold thugs, but man – with all that personnel; were they all sleeping? Wow…
Just as well not to laugh at the kid’s misfortune. Given Rahm Emmanuel’s political leanings, he probably barely acknowledges his son at Christmas time.
If then.
