Pew’s recent survey on firearm-related attitudes and experiences of U.S. adults found – based on the percentage saying “yes” to the question about whether they are NRA members – that more than 14 million Americans consider themselves NRA members.  The real NRA membership of about 5 million falls well short of this measure, even accounting for any statistical error the survey produced.

NRA ILA: Remarkable Finding from Pew Survey

And I bet you 80% of those who say that are members and bitch about the NRA probably have not renewed their membership since 9/11.

Can you imagine the lobby power we could have if we had 14 million paid members and not just imaginary Facebook likes and farmed Twitter followers like the Opposition?

I am not saying you have to be a member, but at least check your wallet and see if you are still a member before going “I am an NRA member but…”

  1. Its not that they are “ex-NRA” members… they are anti-gun plants. What better way to say that NRA members support gun control.

  2. Endowment Life Member here. I get that people can get frustrated with the NRA or even not agree with everything they do, but they should still be members. It’s what, $35 a year? There’s no organization anywhere that is going to please everyone 100%.

  3. Why arent the 100-200 MILLION!! gun owners a member of ANY gun rights orginization??? Imagine our power THEN. Im an NRA member a GOA member a GOME( Gun Owners of MainE) member. Not that Im perfect, but join something guys..the fight will never be over.

    1. True! Not trying to brag, but just to make a point: a lot of the fight is at the state level, so seek out your state’s “citizen’s defense league.” Mine is Virginia. (VCDL). Then there is your local NRA affiliate. Mine is VSSA. And of course, NRA life member. If you truly believe in the 2nd Amendment, you should do as much as you can to support it.
