I wonder what the percentage is of young people that have no idea what Memorial Day is really about? Mostly they know it’s the end of school and the beginning of summer.
Back when I was a kid, we took the day off from school and there was a parade in the small town where we lived. It ended at the cemetery, at the side of the lake where there was a small service. 3 girls threw flowers into the lake and the honor guard fired a 21 gun salute. Taps was played and there was a prayed for the veterans that gave everything they had.
Now it’s BBQ’s and sales. I’m saddened by what our country is becoming.
