It was roaming around autonomously at one of the local wholesale stores and its duty is to check the inventory. What freaked me some was that it was making cute noises that reminded me of Gizmo from The Gremlins.
I guess the company does not want people to feel threatened by this thing and use it as target practice.

Some of the walmarts here have robot floor cleaners. They make funny noises too
Saw one of those inventory bots demonstrated at work, but my employer didn’t go for it. At least short-term they went for using in-store cameras to watch the shelves/produce for stock levels. For a while you’d hear discussions of “banana-cam” at the office.
Wonder if there is a market for a shortened one of those, ruggedized, that could mount a 2×4 and a target ontop to run around a range or “wander” through the course during a course of fire.
I notice how the Label on it is BJ’s.
I hope some people do not misunderstand the purpose of this robot…
