If you are old enough, you will remember the Miami Vice scenes filmed in Miami Beach. It was a worn out locale with low-rent hotels filled with old people and others less than honest characters.

After Miami Vice and then Scarface, amazingly Miami Beach had a rebuild and became not only a quality tourist attraction of international fame, but a renowned Gay Area with what was supposed to be a safe neighborhood for LGQTB people.

About 5 years ago (more or less) something has happened to Miami Beach. Violence and debauchery is the law of the land and nobody with two functional brain cells would dare to go there, specially at night.

It kinda reminds me of a tropical Mad Max movie.

Local residents cite a number of reasons, but the one that lately has been the most talked about is that the City Council extended the sale of booze to five in the morning.  I don’t think that alone is the sole reason, but I don’t live there so I can’t comment.

But sure as hell I am not gonna retract from my self-imposed ban on visiting Stupid Places so I do not win Stupid Prizes.
