I saw Miguel’s earlier post and what was going to be a comment got long enough that I decided to make it a post.

This Tweet.

What struck me was the “had to prove you were actually never law abiding.”

Try that with anything else.

I bought a new pickup truck.  I love it.  It has a 6.4L V8 under the hood.

The “Blue Wave” comes crashing down hard one America.  The Congress of the United States decides (with a super majority) that the average citizen doesn’t need a V8 or anything over 4L of engine to get to work.  You have to register your big block with the Federal government and get a special licence to prove your need, e.g. you own a business that tows or hauls something.

Call it an FEL (Federal Engine License).

If you have a boat or an RV, that’s not enough of a need, you have to pay an FEL to haul it for you.

The government will “buy back” your too powerful vehicle for $2,500.  That’s fair.

So now I have $49,000 in loans I have to pay back on a vehicle I no longer am allowed to own.  I can’t afford a new car payment.

What do I do?  Well, I only live two miles from work.  I risk it, I’ll keep driving my pickup.  I won’t have plates or insurance on it.  I’m pretty sure local Alabama PD won’t enforce the “big block ban” because most of the cops have their own pickups under a tarp a home.

Now Soda Can wants to come to my house and either kill me or die as a martyr trying to tow away my pickup, and in doing so will prove I was “actually never law abiding.”

No, I was law abiding when I bought the truck.  I was law abiding when I put plates on it first time.  I was law abiding when I drove it for months.

I was made into a criminal overnight.  Not because I did anything wrong or different than I did the day before, but because some legislators decided they wanted to me to be a criminal.

Besides, more pickup truck drivers voted for Trump than Hillary.

If you ideologically hate trucks or SUVs or gas guzzlers, this seems totally reasonable.  If you don’t, it becomes frightening.

The government can criminalize anything at anytime and you’ve gone from law abiding to felon by the swipe of a pen.

The Australians did this with their gun ban.  The British did it with guns, and now with knives.

If you fell asleep without watching the news in London, the Swiss Army Knife Classic on your keys that you legally took on the tube yesterday, today will put you in prison, and you had no idea.

This is weaponizing malum prohibitum as a political tool for oppression.

Our Constitution explicitly bans bills of attainder, but a law like this might as well be one.

What Soda Can here is saying, a ban today means you were always a criminal, is a Maoist tactic.  And he is happy to bring it to America.

  1. Wait til the smelly stuff hits the rotary spread device. Then see what this moron says…he wont last a day and a half.

    1. Yeah, but… What are the chances he’d actually volunteer?

Otherwise, are you really going to go through the trouble to try to figure out who this cellphone commando is in real life?

  2. “The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.”

  3. Soda Can had better be quiet. I bet he would change his tune if our current POTUS and Congress decided to make him a criminal for his religion if any, his sexual choices, his political party membership, his reading habits, his choice of news websites, and the list goes on and on.

I’m glad he wants the volunteers in the front to kick in doors. I don’t really think he would lead the charge, but at least he is making noise like he is not a coward. He forgets that REAL Americans are armed to the teeth and vastly outnumber the police, National Guard, and all the rest of the military forces combined, and many of them will not enforce blatantly unConstitutional orders any way. So, he can dream, but he lives in a fantasy world.

  4. Idiots like SodaCan assume anyone that does anything they do not agree with must be a criminal.
Trump must be impeached because we wanted Hillary to win. It is that simple.

And, if gun owners stubbornly continue to remain the most law abiding and responsible people in the country, he will take action that will push them into breaking the law, just to reinforce his beliefs.

  5. Completely unrelated, but I had a first-time shooter hitting 8″ steel targets at 500 yards with an AR in about 2 hours of instruction yesterday.

I took him shooting after “catching” him reading anti-NRA propaganda on some news site. By the end of the day he was asking for help filling out suppressor paperwork.

All we have to do is get someone to the range before they hit the stage where gun ignorance is a badge of honor.
