I will admit that I do not pay much attention to the Garden State’s Gun Control initiatives because it is like trying to swim in a mental cesspool. Perhaps is why I might have missed S798 which proposed the following:

This bill revises the definition of “large capacity ammunition magazine” to reduce the number of rounds of ammunition a legal magazine may hold in this State.
Under current law, it is unlawful to own or possess an ammunition magazine that is capable of holding more than 15 rounds of ammunition.
This bill would reduce the maximum capacity of a legal ammunition magazine in New Jersey to five rounds.

And now that New Jersey got the blessing by a Federal Court to ban anything above 15 rounds, I would expect this bill to come back in 2019 and pass. Of course that would mean that they would have to do something about revolvers in 2020 because you cannot have one type of gun with no magazine, have  more rounds than the ones with magazines.

I have the feeling that Bond Arms will be selling a lot to New Jersey in the future.

Hat Tip to Fran Fiamingo.

Spread the love

  1. So… how many J-frames or LCRs can one carry at one time(assuming one can get multiple carry permits in the DPRNJ)? And of course Glocks with side mounted sights will flood the (out of state) markets as the home boys trade them for five shooters.

    1. Yes he did. Then he discovered that 7 round mags were not available for most handguns, and then the (forget the circuit number) appellate court found the random “no more than 7 rounds” language unconstitutional

  2. They reduced it from 15 to 10 a few months ago (took effect this week).

Now they are shooting for 5 after making us dispose of or permanently modify our 15 round mags.

  3. Revolvers have 6 to 9 round cylinders depending on the caliber.
New Jersey is looking for a way to completely ban all guns without actually banning them.

    1. Some small ones have 5 round cylinders. The Mini-22 for example. At the other end, aren’t there some 10 round (22 LR) revolvers?
      Time to build a Neil Smith “Staggercyl” — 12 rounds, 2 barrels…

    1. Look at the bill again. This is the bill Codey introduced that was rejected in favor of the 10 round bill. I’m sure he’ll try again. I hope SCOTUS takes up the challenge to the 3rd District ruling.

      1. Yep he is trying it again, he has pre-filed the exact same bill with the 5 round limitation for the next session in NJ. With the first bill passed and the court case settled on it already this 5 round limitation will sail on through. So happy I don’t live in NJ anymore. But this needs to get to the SCOTUS before more states attempt the same.

  4. There is only 1 way…

ALL Gun Manufacturers and Ammunition Manufacturers MUST Stop selling and Servicing to these Communists and there Enforcers.

I would rather pay 10 times as much for any of the above.

MA,NY,CA,WA,OR, ILL, etc etc, there LE, Politicans Security, the People continuing to live in these Enemy areas should feel there own “Law”
    Let them suffer.
Let them go to clubs, knives and rocks.

As fas as i am concerned, Manufacturers should stop helping the Military and Federal Agencies.

Either drop the Attack on gunowners and the 2A once and for all or Suffer what you’d ram down our throats.

    Helplessness.

Without that sort of Commitment, We Loose. its just a matter of time till 2A is gone.

I would rather suffer this short term discomfort than see my children and grandchildren enslaved and killed by these communists, there sympathizers and there enforcers.

  5. This is one of the reasons i left NJ. In PA, pfff i have dual drum mags that fit my glock! ak’s ar’s is in every home here. we have castle doctrine, CCW, no strawman on rifles and i can go on an on but in NJ a pellet gun is considered a firearm! you can do 20 years for a hollow point! good riddance NJ

  6. I feel so much safer now, knowing that criminals only have 5 rounds, matching my 5 rounds. A level playing field. Finally! But I fear it now becomes a “caliber war”. Can we please limit the criminals to .22 while you are making these laws to protect us? Thank you, Great Politicians, our Masters, and Guardians of the Masses.
