Beach Pier visitors may see about a half-dozen fishermen carrying more than a fishing pole. The fishermen are also carrying their guns.
…..
“The fishermen are acting well within their rights, and so far no one’s complained,” said Jacksonville Beach police chief when asked about the open carry Saturdays.
“That doesn’t bother me, it really doesn’t,” said fisherman Tharon Craws.

But… but people are supposed to be scared! How come they are not?
It is Florida, Gunshine State…deal with it.
How bad a chewing out will the assignment get for sending a crew out to the pier/beach for the day and having nothing to show for it?
A few more events where the horses do not faint, the ladies do not staampede, and blood does not overflow the gutters and maybe the FL lawmakers will be convinced they will not lose tourist dollars by allowing unrestricted OC.
stay safe.
That’s supposed to be “assignment editor.”
stay safe.
Did Florida change its open carry laws? They’ve been concealed only for a while.
They are allowed to openly carry their guns in public thanks to Florida Statute 790-25-38. Hunting, fishing, in the field (whatever that is), and going to and from those activities.
stay safe.
The fishing pier is probably the safest part of the beach.
Are you kidding? All those people dealing with the frustration of not catching anything besides a sunburn, and those pistols strapped to their waists? It’s a ticking time bomb just waiting to go off!
Right?
Does nobody else remember all the “video at 11” stories about that happening? What? It didn’t?!? What’s wrong with all those folks thrusting their guns in our faces? Don’t they know that’s what they are supposed to do?
stay safe.
