Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson and More Stars Urge Biden to Shut Down Dakota Access Pipeline

Dozens of Hollywood stars have sent a letter to President Joe Biden urging him to shut down the Dakota Access Pipeline, which Donald Trump approved during his time in office.

The pipeline, which carries oil from North Dakota to Illinois, has been protested by environmentalists and indigenous tribes for years.

Among those calling on Biden to stop the pipeline’s operation include Leonardo DiCaprio, Joaquin Phoenix, Cher, Jane Fonda, Sarah Silverman, Amy Schumer, Chelsea Handler, Dave Matthews, Josh Gad, Orlando Bloom, Kerry Washington and Rooney Mara. Nearly all of “The Avengers” have also signed the letter, including Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Don Cheadle.

Robert Downey Jr. had a salary of $20 million for Avengers: Endgame.  Chris Evans was at $15 million.

When you are making that sort of bank, $5 per gallon for gas doesn’t bother you.

These are all the same pieces of shit who filled up their pools during the California drought because they could afford the fines while working-class people had to wear their underwear twice between washings and shower every third day.

This is going to be the next four years, I guarantee it.  The Hollywood/Media/Tech/Democrat machine grinding every single working person in this country into miserable poverty.

I couldn’t care less about the MCU.  After reading this I want to watch Iron Man, Captain America, and all rest of the Avengers go toe to toe with a bunch of pissed off, out of work, oil workers, truckers, and people going broke on $5 without stunt doubles or bodyguards.  See how that works out for them.

Spread the love

  1. Huh. A gaggle of elitist dancing monkeys signs an opinion piece.

And that’s supposed to change my mind … how, exactly?

I enjoyed most of the MCU films I was able to see (all at home because $11.50/ticket for 6 people just isn’t worth it), but not so much that I’ll die of disappointment if I miss the rest. Ditto with the newer Star Wars films (I didn’t see The Force Awakens until a couple months ago, at a friend’s house, and I haven’t seen any of The Mandalorian).

To be clear, I could miss the entire rest of these franchises, and my life would go on unaffected. Contrary to the hype, that’s true for most people.

That’s the point Disney is missing (since they own both extended franchises). They need us far more than we need them. For us, they are entertainment, one of essentially infinite options. For them, our business — our money — is their entire livelihood.

You’d think, with all the Disney parks closed for COVID (no visitor revenue coming in, even after they pulled the absolute d!ck move of refusing to refund online sales of tickets that now couldn’t be redeemed) and all the theaters closed (no box office revenue), that they’d be financially savvy enough to realize the fans power the business, not the employees.

No, not even the employees who make $20 million for 2-3 months’ work. They are still employees whose contracts can be cancelled any time (just ask Gina Carano).

Disney’s liberal actors endorsed a policy under which fuel is set to go over $4/gal and maybe as high as $5/gal. Since the price of fuel directly affects the price of all other consumer goods, everything is going to get more expensive; for a lot of people, prohibitively expensive.

While it doesn’t affect these elitist dancing monkeys, do you suppose they would care to guess which expense is the first cut by most families when times get tough? Do you think they’ll realize how that little fact might affect them?
