Back when there was this thing called film, I used to run around with Pentax cameras. I liked them because they were slimmer than the competition and delivered great pictures. My best combo was a Pentax MX with a Vivitar macro Zoom 70-210 which unfortunately got stolen along with 6 rolls from my trip to NYC back when it was a not-so-safe place.
In the digital ear, I ran around pocket cams and did the job good enough, but I wanted to get back to Pentax. I still have some of the old lenses (Including one that needs a bayonet adapter) but the prices of digital cam bodies run from Glock 20 for the not so pro models, to Korth revolvers for the pro stuff. With all the expenses we had this year with mom’s health stuff and assorted every day shit, Pentax was relegated to the nice dream folder.
I did some research on the Kodak’s PixPro series because they seem better than just a pocket camera and have a lot of features for an inexpensive camera, specially in the manual mode. I had one model on my Wish List and my dearly beloved surprised me with PixPro AZ251.
I don’t think I have taken 20 pics yet and all but a couple in Auto, but I am surprised at what it does.
Zoom test. See the house with the four big palm trees across the lake?
Testing the Macro function in low light.
It caught raindrops in Auto.
For a camera running a price equivalent of a Hi-Point, I am not complaining. And once I get to know the manual settings, I am sure I will be able to get much better pictures.
I still have a pentax K 1000 35mm i have a 135 lens and a 200 mm lens. I paid 25 CENTS for the camera at a yard sale with the 135 lens on it, 5 bucks for a new in the box flash at another. The 200 mm i paid a $100. Im lookin for a doubler adapter.
I was a film camera nut for quite a while after digital became available, but once I started with digital there was no turning back. Now besides the low cost of pictures and the convenience of editing them on the computer just minutes after taking them, the newer cameras have incredible features – as you are showing here. Along with the low cost of these cameras.
