The “average white person” doesn’t associate socialism with Nordic countries, only upper-middle-class and college indoctrinated Leftist white people. That’s why more than 60 million white people voted for Trump.
I’ve never been to Sweden or Norway. I do know people who escaped Castro’s Cuba and Chavez’s Venezuela, so I also associate socialism with despotic left-wing regimes.
Given that the first thing Democrats did was create enemies lists, the way Castro, Che, Chaves, and Maduro did – not something you hear about in Swedish elections – shows that all the people who associated Democrat socialism with despotic left-wing regimes were correct.

Yeah, but what do they know. I mean, just because they’ve EXPERIENCED socialism, and actually stood in breadlines doesn’t mean they know better than college educated white middle class people who have read all about the theories of socialism, and who think that the Scandinavians A: have socialism and B: have some kind of sustainable system that could work equally well anywhere, instead of a petroleum-money fueled patronage state.
The “socialism” in Nordic countries is not socialism, it’s welfare capitalism, with the huge expenditures of money all funded by the gas and oil they pump out of the ground. Kind of like living in Dubai but colder and not as many Ferraris and high rise condos.
