Several people asked me about this story and what happened to Mrs. Sperling. I did a quick search and found out she came out OK.

I burn to know the backstory here involving the dead suitor and the daughter. Because you know there’s more going on here.
I bet that stung more than the average shotgun wound.
I’m taking it with a grain of salt. (grin) Actually “sought her daughter’s favor” sounds like stalker to me.
I think daughter was divorced, which led to complications. Probably this was some guy to tried to pick her up in a bar, or she slept with him once and he took it the wrong way. All sorts of great backstories here. Of course, the cops knew the backstory, and so did the reporters, but those pesky libel laws….third option is that hubby died in Korea, and she was known to be footloose and fancy free. All lost to the mists of history.
