For weeks we’ve been hearing call after call for bans of assault rifles, high capacity magazines, and everything gun-related.

So Trump decided to finally do something:

Trump administration moves to ban flavored e-cigarettes

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the US Food and Drug Administration would be putting out “some very strong recommendations” regarding the use of flavored e-cigarettes in “a couple of weeks.”

Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, seated in the Oval Office with the President, first lady Melania Trump and the acting commissioner of the FDA, announced that newly proposed enforcement policy would require flavored e-cigarette companies to take their products off the market.

“It’ll take several weeks for us to put out the final guidance that will announce all the parameters around the enforcement policy, and then there will likely be about a 30-day delay to effective date, as is customary,” Azar said. But “at that point all flavored e-cigarettes other than tobacco flavor would have to be removed from the market.”

What the fuck kind of big-government, nanny state, Bloombergesque bullshit is that!?!

Does he want to lose the election in 2020?  Does he have any idea what percentage of his primary demographic of white, working-class men vape?  Or that this is also the demographic with the highest use of nicotine products?

This hit the news over lunch and guys I know with Trump bumper stickers were responding with “fuck the Cheeto-in-Chief.”

Vaping has become more and more popular, especially with flavored vape products because it helps people quit and is more socially acceptable than smoking.

On top of that, Vaping is a $13 Billion dollar business in the US, and a fast-growing entrepreneur business for vape shops, as most people who vape buy in brick and mortar stores.  So, you know, fuck all those guys who put their life savings into starting vape shops out of business and their tax revenue too.

I was literally hearing guys on break saying “from my cold dead hands” about their vape machines.

They were talking about stockpiling flavored vape solution like it is AR-15’s and ammo when Obama was in office.

What the fuck is he thinking?

“Yeah prohibition worked so well, we’re going to try it again with something even more addictive.”

Sounds like a plan.  A plan to kick off a surge in black-market flavored vape solution, half of which is going to be made out of god-knows-what and will cause a shit load more harm.

Every single thing about this plan is just bad, wrong, and stupid.

Sure, Trump can relax by dipping his wick into every well he can afford to cut a six-figure hush-money check to, but the blue-collar Joe who just wants a puff of Fruit Punch flavored nicotine during his break on a 12-hour shift can’t have his fun.

What’s next?  Why not ban low cost, domestic beer sales too?

In the long list of stupid fucking things Trump could have done, this is got to be towards the top.

Last week the GOP was rightly mocking the Democrats for wanting to ban burgers and cars.  Now Trump does this?  That’s not exactly that much better.

Just wait until the first SWAT team kicks in a door because they get an anonymous tip that somebody’s house smells like Kool-Aid.

Somebody in Trump’s inner circle better get him to reverse this fast because this is one bad fucking decision that is only going to hurt him and a lot of working-class people in this country.

Spread the love

  1. The funny thing is, San Fran also banned vaping.

The question is, will they agree with him, or instantly change tune and make it legal again?

  2. If your only flavor choice is ‘tobacco’ you might as well have real tobacco.

Which I have to conclude is the whole point.

Now do the same trick with nicotine gum.

  3. Although I disagree with what he is doing, I understand where it is coming from. Tobacco companies are marketing these things to kids. That is why they are making flavors to appeal to kids.

Tobacco use was declining among teens for decades. Now teen use is through the roof.

With all that being said, the government needs to stop being our parents.

    1. Here s my problem when it comes to the “it’s for the children” arguement about vaping. Most of the politicians that had a problem with vaping also want to legalize or decriminalize marijuana. They don’t mind kids using a drug that is known to cause brain damage in developing brains but nicotine is bad. They can all go jump in a meat grinder.

    2. Adults like flavors too. Ask the Coca-Cola company.

Teen use of vape products and traditional tobacco products is (a) already illegal and (b) not in any way “through the roof.”

      1. Sorry, you are wrong there. I teach high school, and kids are vaping everywhere. Even in class. E-cig usage by high school students increased 78% between 2017-2018. One in four high school students have tried vaping at least once.

Four out of five children who tried tobacco tried a flavored product first. That is why flavors like cotton candy, tutti fruitty, and bubble gum are being made.

        1. This is exactly the same thing I heard when Smirnoff Ice and all those flavored malt beverages came out. They promoted kids drinking because they tasted like soda instead of beer. The ATF didn’t ban those. They cracked down on underage liquor sales.

If you want to curb youth vaping, hammer the vape stores that don’t check ID and punish the kids. Take their vape kits under asset forfeiture laws. Let them lose $50 or $100 worth of vape kits every time they do it in school. See how long they keep it up.

I don’t vape, but I’ll tell you it is far less offensive to my nose to smell fruit punch than tobacco smoke in the break area at work.

Don’t ban the product, punish the offenders.

            1. I agree that it is wrong to ban the product, doubly so to do it as an EO instead of legislative process.
This is a perfect example of some people crying “muh rights” as they push for allowing companies to sell flavors to kids with a wink and a nod as they claim not to be.

People see through that, and you get a more restrictive law. No different from open carrying what looks like a scary machine gun into the produce aisle.

          1. Hey drunk sluts need something to drink too! Leave the Smirnoffs and the Mike’s Hard alone!

Can anyone point me to where they are advertising vaping to children in the open? I doubt it.

Crazy enough sweet candy sugar flavors appeal to just about everyone because they don’t taste like the thing they are. You don’t see tons adults let alone tons of kids sipping single malts because they taste like shit and aren’t easy drinking to those without a taste for it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the availability of marijuana and marijuana products that are commonly vaped are not as much if not more of a contributing factor to teens vaping other things.

  4. If this fella is the same one I’m thinking of this started last year and he had a crazy eyes speech about how “if I had the power to take the vape out of your hand I would”, total nutter butter who thinks they know better than everyone else cause reasons.

I tried vaping and yes some of the flavors are delicious but in the end my tobacco consumption is so small it just wasn’t worth it for me compared to a few ounces of pipe tobacco or a cigar or two a month.

As was said total disconnect here from the powers that be. Teen pot use is fine but vaping is verboten? Guns at 21 but voting at 15-16?

If this means I can’t get my Drew Estate Java Mint cigars someone’s getting a thump.
