This is stupid and confusing and that’s the point

The New wokeness on the Left means that we can’t refer to viruses by location of origin or first identification.  That’s racist.

Can people really keep track of COVID-19 vs COVID-19 B.1.17 vs. COVID-19 B.1.351 in their heads?

No, most people can’t remember more than a couple of telephone numbers.

This is being done to confuse and scare people by drowning them in numbers they can’t keep track of in their heads.

It allows the experts to seem smarter and more insightful.

There is nothing an arrogant expert loves more than making other people feel stupid with technical jargon.

They don’t care about racism.  They just want to seem like smart talking heads on TV.

The Portland Mercury tells you all is fine

From the Portland Mercury:

Crying Wolf: If Portland Tourism Dies, You Can Thank Downtown Business Interests and the Police

Portland—once thought of as a whimsical doughnut-land filled with jolly weirdos on bikes—now has an absolutely terrible national reputation that’s less of a Portlandia episode, and more like one of Dante’s various levels of hell.

How did we get here? Well, zooming out, you can largely thank the national media (particularly FOX News) who often parroted willfully misleading police reports from last summer’s protests, and depicted events that were often confined to a few blocks as if the entire city was a war zone.

So who’s behind these wildly exaggerated visions of Portland reflected in the national media? Well, for one, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB), who between May 29 and November 15, 2020 declared 30 demonstrations as “riots.” Apparently all it takes to declare “a riot” these days is a very small percentage of a crowd throwing plastic water bottles and shaking fences.

While the disinformation campaign waged by the police has helped drive a lot of anti-Portland sentiment nationally, it’s been downtown business interests (led by Portland Business Alliance lobbyists) who have been pushing this message locally, waging a non-stop crusade to amplify random acts of graffiti and window-breaking and portray it as full blown crisis.

See, it’s the business owners and FOX NEWS that are giving Portland a bad reputation. They are doing it for… reasons.

I mean, why should you believe them when a Majority of downtown Portland merchants say city core is unsafe.

In a survey conducted between Nov. 15 and Dec. 31, 2020, 62% of downtown businesses owners said that the central city was no longer safe, a nearly threefold increase from when the survey was last conducted in 2018.

The merchants surveyed also expressed increased concerns about vandalism and graffiti, a lack of cleanliness and rising homelessness in downtown.

That’s bad, right?

Or how about when Businesses across Portland raising alarm about surge in vandalism, burglaries.

Forbes even published an article titled Death Of A City: The Portland Story?

It lays out the same charges against Portland, homelessness, vagrancy, crime, riots, theft, etc.

Insurance companies are not wanting to cover Portland businesses or are charging very high premiums for coverage.

Data from last summer concluded that Portland business lost $23 million due to the riots.  Given that they continued till today, you can at least double that number.

So who are you going to believe, all these business who complain because they are suffering and want the government to fix the problem, or some Leftist opinion writer?

Florida Legislature 2021: Gun Control Bills to be taken seriously. (Updated)

Assault Weapons and Large-capacity Magazines (SB 370 & HB 653).  Companion bills with several co-sponsors in both the Senate and the House. And yes, it is as awful as it can be and always is. The House bill still not scheduled for hearing in any committee but the Senate version was referred to the Judiciary and others.

Sale, Transfer, or Storage of Firearms (HB 167, SB 428 & SB 294).
Several things: It defines minor as anybody under 18 years of age for gun purposes. Tries to force guns must have lock mechanisms, mandates Gun Store to teach gun safety, All bills have been referred to committees.

Preemption of Firearms and Ammunition Regulation (SB 672 & HB 6033).
It repeals the State pre-emption in regulating firearms’ laws and allows to create an infernal patchwork of local regulations or downright banning. Senate bill already referred but not yet the House bill. (HB 6033 – 02/03/2021 1:42 PM  – Referred to Criminal Justice & Public Safety Subcommittee, Judiciary Committee, Criminal Justice & Public Safety Subcommittee. )

There are more bad bills, but so far they lack companions or seem to have very little support, unfortunately that is also the case for the Good gun bills with the exception of Safety of Religious Institutions.

If you are not contacting your legislators, you can complain later when they screw up, but not very loudly. You were the one supposed to inject a bit of spine into them. Do some work, check the bills and contact the members of the House Committees and the Senate Committees.

Wait. Were you expecting me to do all the work for you? Fat effing chance.

DeSantis Hate & Rage: It is a great thing only when Democrats do it.

You cannot make this up. Biden proposes to use a private retailer to distribute the COVID vaccine and it is all good.

But just  four days ago…

What DeSantis has been doing for a month now was bad because it is DeSantis. But when it is by PedoJoe, hey, he is doing things right!

Maybe I’ve been thinking about this the wrong way

Biden has mandated that transmen can play in women’s sports.

I’m not going to complain.

Instead I have a plan.

    1. Identify as non-binary
    2. Compete in women’s MMA
    3. Challenge Frankie Adams to a fight on social media
    4. Get GySgt Bobbie Draper to put my head in a leg lock
    5. Submit and enjoy
