Laughs in woke hashtag at Boeing
A while ago Boeing made a big deal about supporting women in STEM with Women Make Us Better.
First there was this news:
‘Absolutely unacceptable’: Boeing finds a new issue with Max, debris in fuel tanks
Today I read this:
Boeing finds more 787 quality defects, broadens fuselage inspections
Boeing has expanded its examination of 787 Dreamliners after finding more widespread instances of a defect initially thought confined to the aircraft’s aft fuselage plant in South Carolina, prompting inspections at 787 component plants around the globe.
I guess that backfired.
Another aircraft quality fuck-up for Boeing.
Now I want to make this clear, I do not believe that this happened because they hired women.
What I am saying is that focusing on hashtags and woke pandering instead of quality leads this sort of shit.
It’s possible to put together a diverse team of competent people when you focus on competence.
When you put the Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator in charge, you get a diverse team that fails to meet spec, and adhere to quality standards and best practices.
Go woke, go broke.
Of course she missed the important point
From The Hill:
Ocasio-Cortez defends medic in New York Post story who joined OnlyFans to ‘make ends meet’
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) slammed the New York Post for a controversial article it published about a paramedic in New York City that said she had joined the OnlyFans website to “make ends meet.”
In a tweet responding to the publication’s post about the article, titled “NYC medic helped ‘make ends meet’ with racy OnlyFans side gig,” over the weekend, Ocasio-Cortez pushed back, defending the woman over some of the criticism she received over the side job.
“Leave her alone. The actual scandalous headline here is ‘Medics in the United States need two jobs to survive,'” Ocasio-Cortez said in the tweet defending the woman.
The Post also reported that Kwei, who told the paper she earns $25 per hour as a paramedic, also worked as a restaurant hostess to help bring in more money.
A wage of $25/hour is a $52,000 salary at full time.
The first question a rational human being should ask is “why can’t someone making $52,000 not make ends meet in NYC?”
$25/hr makes you a homeowner in Alabama.
The problem isn’t the wage, it’s the taxes and cost if living in NYC.
Then there is the issue of a Canon of ethics. Much like dancing nurses on TikTok, it subverts the respectability of the profession.
Lastly, and this is the part I keep hammering home:
This is a very short sighted and self-destructive way to make ends meet.
Say this girl decides she wants to marry and have kids. How much more difficult will it be when she has to confess “I have a few thousand guys that pay to watch me perform sex acts online.”
What are the long term ramifications?
What about future career plans?
This communicates that sex is transactional for her. This sucks all the emotional intimacy out of it.
I can’t think of anything more corrosive to the relationship between the genders than make all sex a meaningless digital exchange. That is like something put of Brave New World.
Not to mention the hypocrisy of feminists.
“Don’t objectif women, they are not sex objects to be bought and paid for.”
Also…
“It’s empowering for women to make money selling their bodies online as sex objects to men.”
Of all the things that happened during the pandemic, normalizing a digital peep show as an acceptable side gig may be the worst.
And one more thing. If the algorithm is going to drop a headline on me that contains the words “AOC” and “OnlyFans” don’t disappoint me like that.
Badass Hanukkah decorations
The coffee table that Joseph Gluck threw at the attacker during the #MonseyStabbing, at Rabbi Rothenberg’s Chanuka celebration last year, was transformed into a #Menorah stand replicating a #Dreidel, with the hebrew inscription “A Big Miracle Happened Here”.

Last year an assailant entered Rabbi Rotenberg’s house and began stabbing people, many were hospitalized, sadly Rabbi Joseph Neumann died. Joseph Gluck threw the table at the attacker, saving many lives.

That is badass.
Remember, the Hanukkah we celebrate today is a watered down, whitewashed, kid-friendly, Disney version of the holiday.
The real miracle of Hanukkah is that a small group of Jewish insurrectionists defeated the much larger, professional, Helenistic army controlling the region.
It really is a story about Jews kicking the asses of people trying to oppress us.
This is far more in the tradition of the real spirit of Hanukkah than anything else i can think of.
Guns in Cars: Keyless Entry cars are NOT safer.
From what i heard, a lot of these new vehicles will have amazing features like locking themselves down after a certain amount of time and many other helpful tricks. But thieves are a learning bunch and they always figure a way to defeat security systems.
As stated in the video, there are Faraday cases to keep the FOB secured and for travel I would recommend a Faraday bag which is not as pretty or handy, but sure occupies less space and they do work.
Of course, the equipment investment means the thieves are after more than just the pocket change in the cup holder, and in the video where the owner comments the registration was stolen also, makes me think the burglars will be coming back for the very expensive car with probably fake registration and license plates
Don’t forget that taking the gun with you inside your house is a sure-proof method of not having it stolen from the car. What a concept!
Florida: Make sure gun bills have a companion.
In its simplest form, a companion bill, or companion measure, is a bill – introduced in either the House or Senate – which has identical or similar language to another bill introduced in the other chamber.
The reason for this is that House and Senate lawmakers who share similar views on legislation may introduce a companion bill in their respective chambers to promote simultaneous consideration of the measure.
I am going to make lots of noise this year about companion bills for Florida. Last year, the Church Carry bill in the house sailed through all the sub committees and committees with actual bipartisan support, but died because there was not a companion bill in the Senate which could have given it the extra inch of help to move forward and land in governor’s office. And obviously it works the other way around: If the Senate has a bill you like but no companion in the House, it is pretty much dead.  I know there are some sort of workaround, but I believe it is seldom used in the Legislature.
So, if there is a good bill without a companion, I want you all to focus on pestering your Senator or Representative to file his/her version or even an identical one. As usual I will provide the links to the bills with the text included and you are welcome to use them and abuse them.
