Unsecured Guns in Cars: Still a bad idea.

Via Bearing Arms:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Metro Police said more than 550 guns have been stolen from vehicles in Nashville so far this year.

Just last week, police said 21 guns were stolen from vehicles and 8 of those vehicles were easy targets as they were unlocked.

More than 550 guns stolen from vehicles so far this year in Nashville

The word is officially out in Nashville (and probably everywhere) that you can find a gun in a car.  This no longer a burglary to sweep the forgotten cell phone or backpack from the car, but a search for a high value item.  Did you notice the part were it said only 8 of the vehicles were left unlocked? That means the rest were gained access by other means.

I tried to get more info on how the cars were broken into, but nothing was found easily. can only speculate that it may include a decent amount of glass-breaking and then a quick grab of the unsecured weapon from some obvious location (center console, glove compartment, etc.)

Carry then gun with you all times and if you legally cannot, make sure it is really secured in some sort of safe or strong box that would require a thief to put way too much effort to get and they rather move along than waste time.

And keep it out of sight too.

The effect of lockdowns in Madison County, Alabama

From News 19 in Alabama:

Madison County Coroner reports overdose death numbers stabilizing

Madison County coroner Tyler Berryhill tells News 19 that numbers of drug overdose deaths are coming down from the height of the pandemic.

Throughout the coarse of the pandemic, overdose deaths in Madison County were pretty high. Berryhill said for about 60-75 days between April and June, Madison County was averaging one death every 1.5 days.

Berryhill says it is important to realized rug overdoses happen every day, but now the death rate from them are slowing down.

Now, the county is back to ‘typical numbers’ with one death every 5 days.

News 19 asked [Wendy Reeves, Interim Executive Director for the Partnership for a Drug-Free Community] what caused the spike in overdose deaths during the pandemic. She relayed it to a few different theories.

She said one of the other issues is the amount of isolation during the pandemic.

“A lot of times people are suffering from substance use disorder, there is a sense of isolation that they have and when you put isolation on top of that, it really compounds the problem,” said Reeves.

Madison County was averaging 1.5 deaths per day for two-and-a-half months from April to June.

That is is over 100 deaths due to overdoses during the spring.  From the beginning of the COVID until today, there have only been 92 deaths in Madison County.

In fact, during that same period of April through June, Madison County was averaging less than one death per day from COVID.

Lockdown stress deaths outpaced COVID deaths in Madison County for overdoses alone.

We don’t have data on suicide during that same period, but I suspect that it trends the same as ODs.

The Lockdowns supposedly reduced the number of COVID deaths but paid for them with ODs.

This is just one county in Alabama.  I have the feeling that many other counties in America, ones that don’t contain high population density megalopolises, are probably the same.  When the dust settles and the data comes pouring in,  I believe we will discover that outside a few major cities like New York, where people are packed in assholes-to-elbows, that the lockdowns cost more lives than they saved.

Splitting keys for security reasons

I am going to add a huge grain of salt and doubt that this happened to her, but it rings true enough that it may have happened to somebody else.

One of the things I did from almost the day I started driving was to keep the house keys and the car keys separate.

The idea comes from my dad who had a track record of losing keys and a couple of times he “misplaced them, we had to change the cylinders of the house doors, gates and padlocks plus he had to go thorough the expense of having the car re-keyed also.

Amazingly, after splitting the keys, he never lost the car keys again, but the house keys went missing twice more. By this time we had cylinders already bought and on call at home.

I am a man of several defects, but I have never lost a set of keys in my life. My beloved has also been graced with the same blessing and she also believes in the power of keys’ splitting.

And, of course, neither one of us is dumb enough to leave all the frigging keys in the unlocked car!

They want you dead: Open threats of arson in Kansas.

And the threatening note for your enjoyment, please click to enlarge.

I think they want Trump to concede the election even if he wins y a Reagan-type landslide.

The night of November 3rd to the morning of  4th is going to be rather interesting. I do believe that we will see public disorders and riots because that is what they want.

Update & Correction:

Reader Joe Henderson points out that the event happened in Kansas City MO rather than to other one.  Thank you for the heads up.

Monday Music

You have to watch the video.

Actual counter-culture rock from Five Finger Death Punch.

A little comment from the guitarist:

As much as some *news sites* used “anti-mask” as a clickbait title (And I must applaud the capitalist in them or I myself would be a hypocrite) Let’s make this crystal clear: In a fictional story, Amongst shopping cart zombies, Tide Pod eating fat superheroes and all the other metaphors, why would anyone think the mask scene isn’t one.

The mask segments are about hypocrisy on the highest level. When the rules are made for you but those who made them are exempt. Pretty much the standard in all dictatorships and totalitarian regimes (I had the displeasure of growing up in one) hence the reference.

So no – The scene in question is not about the masks – it’s NOT an Anti-Mask message… in fact you can go to FiveFingerDeathPunch.com  Right now and buy some cool ones… ?

Just as I prefaced it:  “We as artists, have a unique opportunity to portray and ridicule the absurd to prevent it from *becoming* reality….   If I must explain this ?‍♂️ The whole video is in the frame work of fiction, a dystopian nightmare of one of the founding fathers right before he signs the constitution…

I often say, ask us!!! The immigrants… the Cubans, the Venezuelans, the North Koreans, anyone from the former Soviet block… Talk to us and we will tell you …. WE were lucky, because we had a place to escape to. We are fortunate that we could come here…. but If America is gone, where will you go?

We immigrants also remember how our freedom slipped away, how our rights were ripped from us, how we were kept under the thumb and in fear of our own governments. So maybe, just maybe… we have valuable experience we can tell you about, we can forewarn you of the things we have seen before.

So We the people must do everything in our power to stay free as a society. We must prevent the rise of tyranny in all shapes and forms, we must resist the would be dictators and the totalitarian ideals. This is what the founding fathers worried about and tried to prevent by creating the constitution. Believe it. America is a miracle, and I LOVE this country…  and I will never shut up about it ??

Anyway – not anti mask – and If you reduced this entire video to that scene and missed the metaphor behind it … Well… the good news is – It is STILL America so you have the right to have and even print your own opinion
