Your daily reminder that they want you dead – ventilator edition

From The Buffalo News:

Roswell Park VP fired over anti-Trump Facebook posts

That’s putting it mildly.

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center has terminated a top executive for Facebook posts that bashed President Trump’s response to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Laura Krolczyk, Roswell Park’s vice president for external affairs, was initially placed on administrative leave from her position but was fired following the conclusion of an investigation into her remarks, spokeswoman Annie Deck-Miller confirmed Saturday.

This woman is a VP at a medical center.

Both Krolczyk and LaTrovato worked for Democratic elected officials before moving into their positions at the medical and research organizations: Krolczyk for Hillary Clinton and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and LaTrovato for Louise Slaughter.

So she is a DNC operative with a nice sinecure.

The exchange – according to screen grabs posted by Caputo – began when Krolczyk posted a link to an article by the Hill news site about the Trump administration’s reluctance to pay $1 billion to General Motors and Ventec for ventilator production.

Krolczyk shared the article with a comment: “Vote Trump.”

LaTrovato responded: “But will waste more than that on a wall and space force.”

Krolczyk replied: “Trump supporters need to pledge to give up their ventilators for someone else … and not go to the hospital.”

LaTrovato responded: “I think they should be the only ones in packed churches on Sunday.”

Krolczyk then said: “They should barricade themselves in there and ride this out.”

This is a woman with a medical center who is encouraging Trump voters to not go to the hospital and refuse ventilators if they become seriously ill with COVID-19.

Let me reiterate, this is a senior-level manager with a medical center that got caught saying that life-saving health care should be metered out depending on the politics of the patient.

It’s good that she got fired.  She will probably fail upwards to another position with the DNC.

What is bad is that it shows you that there are people like this in health care, and it makes you wonder if in a place like NYC, if the ventilator rationing comes, will some admin secretly go through your Facebook or Twitter or even get a contact with the state board of elections to determine if you are a Trump Supporter or a Republican and come up with some bullshit excuse as to why they need to take your ventilator away.

They want you dead because you stand in the way of their utopia.  Never forget that.

Upcoming baking science project

I like to bake my own bread.  I still buy cheap Kroger brand white sandwich bread because it’s easier for PB&J for school lunches (the boy likes it and it’s $1.19 a loaf), but I’d rather bake my own fancy bread than spend $5 at the “artisan” bakery at the grocery store.

We are lazy about it.  We have a bread machine, which I make the dough in on the dough cycle, before transferring it to a baking pan to do a finish rise and bake.

My wife does a Challah that way which is one of the best Challah’s I’ve ever had.

I’ve also been doing boules using a pre-heated Dutch Oven to give it a thick crust.

One of my favorite things to do is replace the water with some other liquid to see what it will do.  Apple juice is sweet, milk gives it richness, I just did one that used coffee that has a nice flavor but requires a lot of sugar to neutralize some of the bitterness.

I did an egg bread using a cup of half-and-half that was reaching its expiration date and it turned into one heck of brioche.

I have been baking more since the Coronacrisis started since the shelves were picked clean of store bread for two weeks.  You can’t really stockpile bread (I’m not talking about the canned stuff) but you can stockpile bread flour, sugar, and yeast.

My brother works at a local micro-brew and is an award-winning apprentice brewmaster.

I’ve talked to him about getting some of the krausen from the beer he brews and using that for bread yeast, which is the way bakers have been baking for centuries before packaged yeast came along.

In the days before the pasteurization of bottled beer for transport, beer was a live culture food like yogurt.  Beer bread used the live yeasts in the beer to start a rise.

My brother launched into an explanation of the different yeasts used for different beers and how that affects the flavor and fermentation.

This has given me an idea.

I am going to try baking bread with different krausen from different beers made with different yeasts.  I will keep the recipes simple (flour, water, sugar, salt, yeast) and use the same procedure (dough cycle with a final rise in a loaf pan) for each to maintain consistency.

I’d like to see how the different yeasts affect the bread, including flavor and rise.

I will document and post as this occurs.  This will be a long term process as they do a new batch every few weeks.

I think this might be a fun little science project.

Is there a bag limit on New Yorkers?

From Bloomberg News:

Rhode Island Police to Hunt Down New Yorkers Seeking Refuge

Is it legal to hunt New Yorkers now?

Is there a bag limit?

What caliber is legal for New Yorkers?

Are we allowed to hunt them over bait?  What sort of bait would you use for a New Yorker, an overly expensive slide of mediocre pizza or a hotdog that’s been macerating in fetid cart water for a couple of weeks?

Where do I go to get my New Yorker hunting permit?  Or are they considered an invasive species that local governments encourage to be eliminated like Burmese Pythons in the Everglades?

Rhode Island police began stopping cars with New York plates Friday. On Saturday, the National Guard will help them conduct house-to-house searches to find people who traveled from New York and demand 14 days of self-quarantine.

“Right now we have a pinpointed risk,” Governor Gina Raimondo said. “That risk is called New York City.”

That is the best sentence I have read in a news article in the last… oh, forever.

I cannot agree with this sentiment more, not just on COVID-19 but on general principles.

New York is the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S., on Friday reporting a total of 44,000 cases.

Rhode Island has just over 200, and it has begun an aggressive campaign to keep the virus out and New Yorkers contained, over objections from civil liberties advocates.

Many New Yorkers have summer houses in Rhode Island, especially in tony Newport, and the governor said the authorities would be checking there.

The sheer ballsy arrogance of wealthy New Yorkers, not wanting to get stuck in NYC with the infected ruffians who don’t have summer homes, they feel entitled to break quarantine and use voluntary isolation and telecommuting to enjoy some R&R at their vacation home.

“Yesterday I announced and today I reiterated: Anyone coming to Rhode Island in any way from New York must be quarantined,” the governor said. “By order. Will be enforced. Enforceable by law.”

This is like a zombie movie where the government is trying to control the outbreak and figure out who’s been bitten.  I’ve seen this movie, I know how it ends.

One of the more amazing things about the Coronavirus is just how much it’s unified people outside of New York City to hating rich people from New York City.

Florida was the first state to crack down on New Yorkers trying to wait out the lockdown in their vacation homes.  I covered how the locals in the Hamptons are just about ready to isolate themselves from residents of New York City by blowing up the bridges that connect them to the City.

Now it’s Rhode Island.  Soon enough I expect every state with a beach or city known for being a second home hot spot for rich New Yorkers to implement the same sort of crackdown.  These people are possibly infected and pose a real risk of spreading their infection into areas that are just not equipped to handle it.  They don’t have the right to spread their infection just because they are rich enough to own a vacation home.  They can’t buy their way out for quarantine like rich people bribing their way onto the lifeboats of the Titanic.

I can tell you, in Alabama, we don’t have many New Yorkers who vacation on the gulf coast, but if the state did need to go after rogue New Yorkers, they’d have no problem recruiting people for a posse to hunt them down.

Times of Crisis Makes the Stupid Sprout

Via Tom Gresham:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – SC Representative Wendell Gilliard sent a letter to National Rifle Association (NRA) president, Carolyn Meadows, calling upon the NRA to donate funds from recent gun sales to efforts combating the spread of the coronavirus.

Gun sales have increased 500% over the last two weeks. Gilliard suggested that the NRA donate funds towards “obtaining medical equipment for the medical professionals and helping the homeless population.”

Rep. Gilliard requests NRA donate funds to combat the spread of COVID-19

I have to get back to quote Scarface : “Don’t get high on your own supply.” Listen Wendell, I understand you have a laundry list of bullshit given by the Gun Control groups and you are sworn to regularly spout. But I think by now, even Michael Bloomberg knows the NRA does not sell guns. You are just waving a huge yellow flags and screaming LOOK AT MY DUMB ASSERY!

It is OK, you are in good idiot company, just don’t go to Guam on vacation because the island can tilt and y’all can drown.

And when the police really cannot help you

Stop bitching, you brought this on yourselves. (update)

The susual suspects are decrying this in Twitterverse:

“If you are from an infected area, please don’t come here”
“No, fuck you. I do as I want”
“Seriously, please, we don’t want to spread this disease.”
“I said no and fuck your people!”
“OK, check points enacted.”
“YOU FUCKING FASCIST!”

Governor De Santis has been warning for over a week that people from infected areas should not escape to Florida which so far, has been spared the worse of the Wuhan Virus. People ignored. Even Governor Cuomo acknowledged that New Yorkers were escaping and that there was a great chance they were carriers, but they did not give a care.

So Florida is enacting rather mild precautions, and the 5-minute patriots come out screaming as if it was the God Given right of a contaminated asshole to spread the sickness among the rest of the population.

“Is not this a free country?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Have not I a right to swing my arm?”
“Yes, but your right to swing your arm leaves off where my right not to have my nose struck begins.”
John B. Finch. 1882

It is not a difficult concept to understand.

Update: They don’t give a shit about themselves, friends or neighbors, do you thing they have consideration for anybody else outside NYC?

F. U. Miami Herald.

A Miami Herlad Journo was not allowed access to a press conference given by Governor De Santis because simply the space is restricted due to the CDC guidelines. She was given the URL to watch the conference but she wanted access to the Governor. When she was not bowed to, she reported she was barred form the proceeding hinting some sort of dark intentions.

So the Herald Editorial today comes out all self righteous in defense of their journo and allegedly us.  They actually had the balls to write this:

“Rather, he should be ashamed because, in not allowing Klas to do her job and ask the serious questions that deserve his serious answers, he is really denying access to the Floridians who look to these media outlets for vital information”

And I left them my opinion:

Floridians are indeed looking for vital information, but we also know that we are not going to find it in the Miami Herald. Hell, you guys vetted Gillum, right? He was the best option for Florida Governor, wasn’t that so?
Now imagine this crisis under the “leadership” of a lying addict like Gillum.

Journalists are so conceited, they swear we will not remember the continuous screw ups they commit and that anything coming out of them must be treated like the gospel by us, the Little People. They know better! We must Obey!
