Burns but it is true.
Sorry, but Aesop is simply telling it like it is.
Keep having Gun Fan Woodstocks, and bravely protesting the War On Guns.
That will totally work.
Like it did in the ’60s.
Aaugh! Shocking. – Raconteur Report
Truthfully, short of a legislative miracle or a well placed asteroid landing in Richmond, the State of Virginia is forked. At this time, if Virginian Gun Owners are not splitting strategies between using the court to stop implementation (Second Amendment Foundation expertise) and the electoral retaking of the Legislature, they can kiss their asses good bye about gun rights. Their only chance is to elect a veto-proof legislature to reverse the pile of laws about to be dumped on them.
As for Florida, we have 42 days left to survive this Legislative season and then start preparing for the November elections. Now allow me to give you a scary thought: Bloomberg’s target sights will be aimed at us to do the same he did in Virginia: Making it Blue. I can imagine how hard they will blow their horns if they flip the state and all the gun laws that Florida is known for and pioneered are reversed and forgotten.
There is a lot of Legislators terming out and will need to be replaced with good people. We can no longer trust the (R) and we need to be forcefully (yet politely) and explain that we will not accept anything short of full support for full Gun Rights in Florida.
We have nobody to blame but ourselves.
Florida Gun Rights 2020: CS/SB 728 – Threats – Advances – Acceptable?
General Bill by Infrastructure and Security and Stargel (CO-SPONSORS) Hutson
Threats: Prohibiting threats to use, including future threats to use, a firearm or weapon with specified intent; prohibiting a person from threatening the future throwing, projecting, placing, or discharging of any destructive device with specified intent; prohibiting a person from making a false report with specified intent concerning the current or future placing or planting of any bomb, dynamite, other deadly explosive, or weapon of mass destruction or concerning the current or future use of a firearm in a violent manner against a person or persons, etc.
Read the Updated Text of the Bill.
The initial text did not have an exception for defensive use of a firearm and it was added later.
What worries me is what will a Prosecutor or Detective interpret as reasonable. Sometimes our humor does not translate well with others and specially in the webs and somebody with a political axe to grind can use this law to shut down a politically troublesome element.
I also understand that one of the tools of terrorism and other assorted assholes is the threat of a mass shooting to create panic in the populace. I believe this bill if approved will generate one of those “Defendant Zero” cases that Jon Gutmacher talks about.
I may start to side against this bill in the future.
Florida Gun Rights 2020: CS/HB 183 (2020) — Prohibited Places for Weapons and Firearms – Neutral Bill Advancing.
CS/HB 183 –Â Prohibited Places for Weapons and Firearms
General Bill by Criminal Justice Subcommittee and Ponder (CO-SPONSORS) Donalds; Hill; Stone
Prohibited Places for Weapons and Firearms: Authorizes elected member of specified governing body who holds license to carry concealed weapons or firearms to carry concealed weapon or firearm to meeting of governing body of which he or she is member, unless otherwise prohibited by law.
Read the Updated Text of the Bill.
The only thing they did was to add a prohibition to carry just like normal CWP holders do. IANAL, but the bill now does not make sense. I might be missing something a non-prohibited location or two.
And I really do not care one way or the other.
