HRC Spokesperson reminds us it’s never about stopping the next shooting but about control

Stephen Gutowski is a writer and firearms expert for the Washington Free Beacon.  He is probably the most knowledgeable writer on the topics of firearms in any non-firearms specific media publication.

He took to Twitter to counter the political “we must do something” following yesterday’s Saugus High School shooting.

We still do not have all the details about the shooting, however Gutowski’s assertions are true.  The shooter was 16 years old and by every law in California, was not able to buy a gun and should have been unable to get his hands on one.

Over to the Daily Mail for a second.  They published an anti-gun article on this shooting – mostly attacking the shooter’s father for being a hunter that reloaded – that had a few decent nuggets of useful information in it.

As authorities continue to investigate and try to determine a motive, details about the suspect and his family have started to emerge – including how there were signs of trouble at home.

Berhow’s father, Mark Berhow, died of a heart attack in December 2017, according to his online obituary.

A childhood friend of Berhow’s speculated in a KTLA interview that the death of the teen’s father two years ago could have triggered the rampage.

So the shooter’s dad died suddenly when the boy was 14.  I would say that the loss of a dad at this age was probably the proximal cause of the shooting, as we know what the effect of a boy raised without a father can be.  For his dad to have died suddenly and unexpectedly just adds fuel to that fire.

Jared Axen, who lives next door to the family, said Berhow used to go hunting with his father and that firearms ‘weren’t a mystery to him’.

My suspicion is that the father’s guns were not secured by mom after dad’s death.  If she is not familiar with guns, she may have not have known how to do that or where all of them were.

That’s the end of my speculation.

Enter Charlotte Clymer.  Clymer is the communications officer for the Human Rights Campaign, which is a far Left-leaning LGBT rights organization.

Did I mention they were far Left-leaning?

First, two points:

One: being a veteran or from a Red state doesn’t mean you know fuck all about guns or American gun laws.  I have known and worked with many veterans who are as ignorant about guns as any member of Moms Demand Action.  Most military jobs do not require firearms knowledge and none require knowing about US gun laws.  “I served as a Finance officer/JAG officer/Public Affairs officer, so I am an expert on why you shouldn’t own an AR-15” is horseshit.

Two: I thank all veterans for their service.  But I am getting very suspicious of all these raging Leftists who come out of the military and immediately attack our civil liberties, from guns to free speech and the presumption of innocence.  Pam Bondi, Ted Lieu, Amy McGrath, all of them have the message “I served in the military so you can’t question my patriotism/love of America” then proceed to advocate for gun confiscation, call the NRA a terrorist organization, and argue that men accused of decades-old sex sexual assault, without evidence, are guilty.

I know the military has never been partisan, but this is starting to disturb me, as in are we headed in the direction of a Leftist Junta in the US?  Maybe I’m being paranoid, but this seems to be the root of the Ukrainian Whistleblower thing.  “You can’t question Vindman’s motives, he’s a Lt. Col, his loyalty and patriotism are unimpeachable” is the defense, but it seems that he was a partisan hack in uniform.

Clymer seems to be using that same defense in her Tweet.

She continued:

First of all, that is fucking condescending.  There really is nothing like the contempt and condescension of the self-righteous Progressive.

And while yes, Clymer might be technically correct, there has not been one school shooting or mass shooting I am aware of in which the shooter went across state lines to buy a gun in a neighboring state that was illegal in the shooter’s home state.

Considering that this shooter was 16, what would adding a UBC to this situation do?  A 16 year old is prohibited from buying a gun anywhere, and a unlicensed seller would have to willfully break the law to hand the gun over to an obvious child.

I don’t think Clymer is too dumb to get that.  It’s that those points are irrelevant.

She wants these gun control laws passed, this shooting is a perfectly good puddle of blood to dance in, and she wields Progressive brow-beating condescension as a brickbat to get her way.

Its not about stopping the next school shooting.  It’s about attacking the rights of law abiding gun owners.

And if you disagree or call her on it, she’ll remind you that she’s a veteran from Texas so is more American, more patriotic, and know more about guns than you, so you need to shut your mouth, sweetie.

Florida: Three new Gun Control Bills. We are up to 29 now.

HB 627 – Assault Weapons and Large-Capacity Magazines
Assault Weapons and Large-Capacity Magazines: Prohibits sale, transfers, or possession of assault weapon or large-capacity ammunition magazine; provides exceptions; requires certificates of possession for assault weapons or large-capacity ammunition magazines lawfully possessed before specified date; provides conditions for continued possession of such weapons or large-capacity ammunition magazines; requires certificates of transfer for transfers of assault weapons or large-capacity magazines; provides for relinquishment of assault weapons or large-capacity magazines; provides requirements for transportation of assault weapons; provides enhanced criminal penalties for certain offenses when committed with assault weapon or large-capacity magazine.

Did an initial reading and this is pretty much Feinstein’s AWB II and AWB III. If you remember, the definition of Assault Weapons to be prohibited include pistols that have full automatic versions so Berettas, Glocks and 1911 can and bet your ass will be considered Assault Weapon. And if that is not enough, they also say that any semi automatic pistol that can accept a magazine with more than 10 rounds, is also an assault weapon. Basically over a century of semi automatic sidearms will be banned in the State of Florida. Grandfathering? But of course, but you have to register your Evil Black Rifle and Evil Black Pistol with the State. I will examine this bill with more detail later.

HB 629 – Pub. Rec./Personal Identifying Information of Assault Weapon or Large-Capacity Magazine Possession Certificateholder.
Pub. Rec./Personal Identifying Information of Assault Weapon or Large-Capacity Magazine Possession Certificateholder: Provides exemption from public records requirements for personal identifying information of person issued certificate of possession with respect to an assault weapon or large-capacity ammunition magazine; provides for access to exempt information for specified purposes; provides for future legislative review & repeal of exemption; provides statement of public necessity.

Since they are confident that we will get a Assault Weapon and Magazine Ban law passed, they are throwing a bone by promising us they will respect the privacy of those who have one of those infernal items when grandfathered and forced to register with the State.  Of course, they reserve the right to cancel the bone and reveal to the world who owns what when it comes to lawsuits and confiscation.

HB 631 – Sale, Transfer, or Storage of Firearms.
Sale, Transfer, or Storage of Firearms: Revises requirements for storage of firearms; provides criminal penalties if minor access stored firearm & uses it in specified ways; revises definition of “minor”; requires seller or transferor of firearm to provide specified information; provides immunity for certain providers of information; revises standard for adults & minors to be criminally negligent in storage of firearms in certain circumstances.

Two interesting things: It forces firearm dealers to basically give a firearm storage class every time they sell a gun to somebody including brochures and have to do it at cost. It raises the definition of minor from 16 to 18 for safety purposes and penalizes a minor who does not secure a weapon from another minor and it is used to shoot somebody, no exception if the shooting is a defensive one. If you are an adult who left the gun unsecured and was  used by a minor in self defense, you will not be penalized.

Florida: Deaths by Fentanyl v Gun Homicides.

I just bumped into this:

And because I am who I am, I went to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement UCR and checked the Firearm Homicide numbers for 2018.

That is almost three times more death by Fentanyl alone than with homicides by firearms.  Next I went to do a check in our Legislature pending bills to see if they have anything on Fentanyl seeing that we have almost three times more bodies dropping than gun and found only 7 returns to my query and all of them are just revision of the law in which the word Fentanyl appears and, Oh yes!  the darn chemical is already illegal, but somehow it kill 3 times more people than the guns Liberal and Democrats hate so much which may be is the reason we are facing 26  29 gun control bills in the legislature this year.

Gun Control is really People Control. Junkies are easy to control. Armed people? Not so much.

PS: Later that day, I found out that 3 more Gun Control bills had been filed the day before, thus the correction.

CA25 Congressional hell to get worse

To recap.  California’s 25th Congressional district had been a moderately Republican district.  Voting for Republican governors until the election of Gavin Newsom.  The district was represented by two Republican Congressmen going back to 1993.

Katie Hill was elected to represent CA25, flipping it Democrat away from Republican Steve Knight.

Hill was a Progressive darling.  Much like the Squad but less abrasive, she was being groomed by Speaker Pelosi for great things.

Then it came out that she had engaged in sexual relationships with paid subordinates in direct violation of the House rules and ethics.

Pelosi had no choice but to start an ethics investigation, prompting Hill to resign. The suddenness of her resignation suggested that she had even worse skeletons on her closet that an investigation would uncover.

Her resignation also allowed her to claim victim status, saying that she was driven out with revenge porn – or as Conservatives called it “corroborating evidence” – and misogyny.

That seat is now empty.

If you thought that this is where the drama of CA25 ended, boy were you wrong.  We are entering the second act of this shiy show.

After about a week away from the spotlight, Hill decided she’d come back into public life:

Cenk Uygur, the leader of The Young Turks, the Progressive news site has filed to run for Congress in CA25.

Uygur is a vile piece of human garbage.  He is an antisemitic, anti-Israel, radical socialist Progressive, who denies the Armenian Genocide and actually named his media outlet after the Turkish party that committed the Armenian Genocide.

So… he’ll fit right in with the Squad.

The problem with Uygur isn’t that he’s a genocide denying, Jew-hating, socialist – those are all positives for him.  The problem is that he has a twig and berries and identifies as such.

Christy Smith is a California assemblywoman who wants to level up to CA25 Congresswoman.  She decreed that a man running for CA25, which is his Constitutional right as a US citizen over the age of 25, is manspreading into her district.

Like that is her Congressional seat already.

Katie Hill decided to back up Smith.

That’s a women’s seat.  No men need apply.  Once a woman won it, it can never be represented by a Congressman ever again.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons to not vote for Cenk Uygur. There are plenty of legitimate reasons to throw Cenk Uygur out of a helicopter into the Pacific Ocean.  None of them have to do with his gender.

Brown Muslim Progressive vs. White Woman Progressive is going to be a hell of a fight to watch.

They don’t dare diverge on policy from the Progressive orthodoxy so identity politics is going to be their  battleground.

Perhaps a fire burning the district to nothing but ash is the best thing for it.
