Because they can’t do math.

From your friends at CSGV:

CSGV FrumDavid Frum and the rest of the Antis keep beating the tired old drum that we are an insignificant majority. But for argument’s sake, let’s play with their own numbers, shall we?

The number of households owning guns has declined from almost 50% in 1973 to just over 32% in 2010, according to a 2011 study produced by The University of Chicago’s National Opinion Research Center. The number of gun owners has gone down almost 10% over the same period, the report found

So got my Google-Fu skills out, did some searches plus added math and here is what i got:

The number Households in the US according to U.S. Census Bureau (2010): 114,800,000. A “little over” 32% would be about 37,000,000 households with guns or 9.5 guns per household. Let’s say that every household has 100 rounds of ammunition for all 9.5 gun or 10 rounds per gun (incredible miniscule amount, it is usually considered 100 rounds per firearm) that makes it 3.7 billion rounds of ammunition in the hands of civilians right this second.

From 2008 to 2012, close to 57 million firearms were sold to US Citizens. Again let’s set a ridiculous low average price for guns of $500 a piece which gives us $28.5 billion dollars which is bigger than the average annual individual budget for half the States in the Union.

Back again to household numbers; the U.S. Census Bureau states that the average household contains 2.6 people. That makes it 96,200,000 individuals owning 350,000,000 firearms (3 guns per individual) and 35 billion rounds.

Again according to U.S. Census Bureau, Florida has 7,140,096 households. Again using the 32% household with guns stat, we get 2,284,830.72 armed households or 5,940,559 Floridians with at least 3 guns each and a grand total of 1.7 billion rounds of ammunition at their disposal. The active military of US, China & Russia combined make up for 4,797,219 individuals.

Basically, if we were the violent, bloodthirsty, insurrectionist nutjobs that the Gun Control Advocates portray us to be, Florida alone could take over the DC, NY & Boston corridor over the weekend and be back to work on Monday. But we just don’t want to subject Canada to that huge influx of politicians on the run.

CSGV a lie is a lie is a lie but we don’t care.

CSGV Thiart

What does the Tiahrt Amendment do? It prohibits the National Tracing Center of the ATF from releasing information from its firearms trace database to anyone other than a law enforcement agency or prosecutor in connection with a criminal investigation. The problem is that Gun Control Advocates wanted to use this information to enact frivolous lawsuits against Gun Manufacturers and Gun Stores.

However, when some trace data pointed out that the guns recovered at crime scenes in Mexico were part of ATF’s Fast & Furious, CSGV and the rest of the gang dismissed it or had no opinion and never sued the Federal Gov or demanded that the responsibles be thrown in prison. How about that?

This is a nice summary & explanation of what the Thiart Amendments do:

  • Releasing the information serves no useful purpose. The Congressional Research Service has repeatedly said “firearm trace data may be biased” and “cannot be used to test for statistical significance between firearm traces in general and the wider population of firearms available to criminals or the wider American public.”[1] These limitations exist because the “tracing system is an operational system designed to help law enforcement agencies identify the ownership path of individual firearms. It was not designed to collect statistics.”[2]
  • Traced guns aren’t always “crime guns”; firearms may be traced for reasons unrelated to any armed crime. The BATFE trace request form lists “crime codes” for traffic offenses and election law violations, among many others.
  • Trace information remains available for law enforcement use. The permanent version of the Tiahrt amendment ensures that trace data is available to federal, state, and local agencies “in connection with and for use in a bona fide criminal investigation or prosecution” or for use in administrative actions by BATFE—the principal agency responsible for overseeing the conduct of federally licensed firearms dealers. The language and history of the Gun Control Act are clear: Congress always intended to keep this information confidential, and to allow its use only for legitimate law enforcement purposes. The firearms trace database includes information such as the agency requesting a gun trace, the location from which the gun was recovered, and the identity of the dealer and original retail buyer.
  • Both BATFE and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) oppose release of trace data. In fact, BATFE has fought for years in the federal courts to keep trace records confidential, because they contain information (such as names of gun buyers) that could jeopardize ongoing investigations—not to mention law enforcement officers’ lives. For example, a suspected gun trafficker could search publicly released information for names of “straw purchasers” he had used to buy handguns, or for traces requested on guns he had sold. That information could lead him to names of officers, informants and witnesses against his crimes. (View commentary by FOP President Chuck Canterbury from April 24, 2007)

The above is from the NRA site so Antis can ignore without having to give it too much thought….not that they actually perform such higher brain function anyway.

Spike Tactical: Let them use slingshots.

One more for the list: Spike’s tactical

Updated Policy for State and Local Law Enforcement Agency Sales:

In light of the recent and numerous anti-gun and anti-2nd Amendment laws pending across the Nation, Spike’s Tactical will be joining other manufacturers and distributors and limiting the business we do in states that have limited the right to keep and bear arms for their citizens.

As of today, it will be our policy not to sell prohibited items to law enforcement agencies, government agencies and agents in states, counties, cities and municipalities that have enacted restrictive gun control laws against their citizens. We urge other companies to join in support.

One quick note: About the big companies joining, before going into a frenzy we need to know if they are in some sort of contract with a particular state or with the Feds. Breach of Contract is not a thing to take slightly.

Winchester & Beretta are both tied right now with Federal contracts. Just keep in mind that before we send the pitchforks and the torches over the ramparts.

Rape advice by Anatole of Paris. (Two of them)

“Tote that barge, lift that bail
And why do I sew each new chapeau
With a style they most look positively grim in
Strictly between us, entre-nous
I hate women.
Danny Kaye, Anatole of Paris.

Anatole of Paris is one of the characters played by the incomparable Danny Kaye in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Even when Anatole designs and profits by selling hats to women, he really hates them and that is why he comes up with those God-Awful creations at ridiculous expensive prices. Anatole of Paris is basically a passive-aggressive bastard that will not dirty his hands abusing women, but will find other ways to do so.

That bring us to today’s ‘Anatoles’: The first one is Democrat Rep. Joe Salazar from the Colorado Legislature who said the following while arguing for Gun Free Zones in College Campuses:

“There are some gender inequities on college campuses. This is true. And universities have been faced with that situation for a long time. That’s why we have call boxes. It’s why we have safe zones. That’s why we have the whistles. Because you just don’t know who you’re gonna be shooting at. And you don’t know if you feel like you’re gonna be raped, or if you feel like someone’s been following you around, or if you feel like you’re in trouble, and when you may actually not be, that you pop out that gun and you pop… pop around at somebody.” (Via Daily Caller)

You see, in truly Mucho Macho Latino form, Joe reminds women that they are too weak and stupid to carry a gun much less defend themselves with it. I do hope he is not married or has daughters or if he does, God keep them safe because he does not care.

The second Anatole of Paris is whomever at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs came up with these “helpful” tidbits so the female students might fend off an attack:

UCCS Advice to women rape
Elections have consequences. As the Colorado Legislature (Thank you again Rep. Salazar!) approved to transform all campuses into Gun Free Zones, UCCS updated its Public Safety page to dispense the above advice that actually sounds more like a bad script for a really kinky Japanese porn movie.

I admit I do not understand how can Gun Grabbers can be so nonchalant about rape. I can only surmise that they need more victims to parade in front of a congressional hearing in order to demand more governmental control in people’s lives.

Of course, if somebody like Rep. Salazar were to be brutally raped, his next piece of legislation guns would demand that free firearms and ammunition to be paid via Obamacare and provided to all Colorado residents and gun ownership be mandatory under penalty of law.

But with people like this you can rest assured since his genitalia is never on the line, he really don’t mind much a wee bit of rape. His supposedly represented get to deal with it.

President’s Day: Theodore Roosevelt

0-theodore-rooseveltMy favorite president. He did many a thing in his life, mistakes included. But two things always struck me as great indicators of his character.

The devotion the men that fought in Cuba had for him and his own devotion to his men long after San Juan Hill. Even as President, he would make time to see old  comrades whenever he was in their neighborhood. Rough Riders coming to Washington would demand and obtain access to the White House so they could see the Colonel. Teddy never forgot them.

The other thing was his word was his bond. Once he was at the White House in a meeting with some important functionary or visiting dignitary when one of his kids interrupted the gathering and reminded the President that he had promised come out and play with the rest of the little gang that roamed the grounds. Teddy acknowledged that he had indeed promised it, apologized to his visitor and left to fulfill his word to the children to the astonishment of everybody present.

If you are up for  along reading, get all three of Edmund Morris’ books on the life of Teddy. You will enjoy it and find out what a great man he was.

PS: The Mini series Rough Riders is very much worth a watch. Directed by John Milius.
