Time for some math (updated because my original numbers were off and I had to fix my math):
ExxonMobil is the largest oil producer in the United States.
Last year they made $23 billion in profits.
They produced 38 billion gallons of gas.
$23B in profit for 38B gallons is about $0.60 per gallon profit.
I know that gasoline is not their only product so there are other, often much more profitable products (such as chemical feed stocks for plastic manufacturers) that also add into the oil industry’s profits.
Across the industry, and remember that I’m a chemical engineer who worked in an oil refinery, the profit margin on pump gas is roughly five cents per gallon.
I worked for a refinery that bought oil and owned no wells. The margin on that was $0.05 per gallon.
That’s what I did. We optimized and optimized to suck every fraction of a cent of profit out of our product. If we Gould gain a tenth of a penny per gallon, that was big money for us.
For oil companies that do oil extraction, their margins are wider because they are vertically integrated from crude to pump.
So let’s say this Blue Check got his wish and the oil industry agreed to cut their profit margin by 50%.
He would save between two and thirty cents per gallon depending on if he bought from an oil producer or stand alone refiner.
In his Prius with an 11 gallon tank, he’d save between $0.22 and $3 per tank.
But that wouldn’t allow him to make profound statements on Twitter.

Governor DeSantis signed into law a bill that has two primary provisions:
It is illegal to discuss sexual topics in school with kids in kindergarten through the third grade, that is not age appropriate.
Teachers cannot keep secrets about kids’ personal lives from their parents.
This all seems pretty reasonable, right?
The Left has decided this is the hill to die on.
They are absolutely adamant that they want to teach kindergarten through third grade students about transgenderism, homosexuality, pornography, and sexual degeneracy in the classroom, and not tell parents about how it is affecting their kids.

Their argument is that doing this will harm LGBT youth with bullying and suicide.
What they fail to explain is that suicide rates for kids have been going up, not down. It seems that the more kids have their innocence taken and have their heads filled with this nonsense, the worse off mentally they are.

I have made this point many times before, the popular option on the gay community started going backwards once you went from clean cut, Will and Grace gay men wanting equality to drag queen story hour and Blues Clues doing a pride parade episode with a transgender beaver having mastectomy scars.
Normal parents do not want homosexuality and transgenderism forced on our kids. We don’t want heterosexual sex forced on our kids either.
It seems that for a demographic defined by their sexual predilection, everything is about sex with them. Normal straight people do not talk to children about heterosexual sex frequently, and those that do are highly suspicious.
We just want them to leave our kids alone to their innocence and they want constant sexual indoctrination all the time.
The only positive here is that I think they underestimate the backlash that will come from normal parents wondering why their elementary school children can’t read but know all the different pronouns.
If the Left wants to die on this hill, I will be happy to accommodate them with woodchippers.

FHP said 52-year-old Kristen Kay Watts of Sarasota slammed into Master Trooper Toni Schuck’s SUV on Sunday morning, leaving Schuck, 47, with serious injuries, after ignoring a series of roadblocks in place for the annual Skyway 10K.

Investigators said Watts was driving in a BMW while intoxicated and was arrested on suspicion of DUI. They said she was speeding on Interstate 275 while the race was underway around 8:45 a.m. Sunday. Troopers said she sped toward the road closure at U.S. Highway 41, but ignored the detour set up to direct drivers away from the race.Troopers said Watts drove through traffic cones and weaved around barricades, and passed troopers guarding the toll plaza. Troopers stationed at the south rest area were alerted to the oncoming vehicle.
“This driver had blown past several check points, going around traffic cones, going around other officers and had engaged in high speeds,” said Watson.
I don’t think I need to comment much about this other than congratulate Trooper Schuck for her life-saving action. That was some amazing feat of service.

Paris, March 9, 2022 – Russian and Ukrainian authorities must ensure that members of the press can cover the war in Ukraine safely and freely, and Russian forces must refrain from targeting journalists, the Committee to Protect Journalists said Wednesday.
Since late February, Russian troops have injured at least three journalists from international outlets, and at least one reporter for a Ukrainian outlet has been attacked for their reporting.
