From CNN:
Hillary Clinton says she is an Electoral College elector in New York
Hillary Clinton said Tuesday she is one of the 538 electors in the Electoral College.
“I’m an elector in New York,” the 2016 Democratic nominee told SiriusXM’s “Signal Boost.” “I’m sure I’ll get to vote for Joe (Biden) and (Sen. Kamala Harris) in New York. So, that’s pretty exciting.”
Dear God, Jesus, Buddha, Zoroaster, Zeus, Gozer, etc., please let New York turn Red this year so that Hillary is forced to vote for Donald Trump as a member of the Electoral College.
It would be the perfect closer for 2020.
Thank you.
Amen.
This is PURE B.S. No sooner than Nov 3rd, 2020 we’ll start to select our representatives to the electoral collage. If NY votes Trump, then the Republican party of NY will select all the representatives to go to the Electoral Collage to cast a vote. We all hope and pray that those so chosen will then cast their votes for Trump.
This is one of the problems that we had in 2016, there were a couple of representatives that cast there votes for other than Trump and Hillary.
Until the votes are counted, and NY is declared for the Democrats, Hillary is not a member of the Electoral Collage. Just another piece of fake news.
Hillary? And falsehoods?
Reeeeee! Nononojono!!!!
Unpossible!
Two words: “Unfaithful Elector” — e.g. an elector who refuses to cast his/her electoral vote according to the will of the voters in his/her State.
Does anyone for a second believe Hillary’s loyalty is to the sanctity of the Electoral College? That if New York went Republican, she would bow to the will of New York voters and cast her electoral vote for Donald Trump?
The reality is, as Therefore points out above, she’s probably been shortlisted as a possible elector if and only if New York goes for Harris/Biden, which she assumes is a certainty.
I’d still like to see her reaction if New York goes for Trump, even if she doesn’t get to be an elector. š
Therefore has it right. Remember how it actually works:
On Nov 3rd we vote for electors. We don’t actually vote for President. There are two slates of electors, one supporting the D candidates, one supporting the R candidates. Whichever slate gets the most votes is the one appointed to the Electoral College. (Exception: Maine and, if I remember right, Nebraska, where two electors are appointed “at large” to match the senators, and the rest are appointed per congressional district.)
So Therefore is right, she isn’t an elector. She will be one if and only if the D party wins NY, which is unfortunately rather likely.
As for faithless electors, that’s one of the many outrageous things she pushed for after losing. It didn’t work, thank goodness. A few electors were faithless, but I think as many of the D electors as R ones if not more so. š again…
IIRC, it was all Day that were faithless. Thier vote would make no difference so they cast them “not Hillary”. There was a court case heard recently (?) that said that faithless electoral collage representatives can be legally punished.
