Made the comment in Facebook and apparently I hit the nail in the head.
“Gun stores are as bare as a Venezuelan Supermarket. ”
The thread degenerated soon after with people “buying and selling” small pistol primers like it was illegal substances 😀
Yeah, we ain’t right in the head. Sue us. 😀
PS.
Hoarder: The asshole who bought before you did.
I was an early adopter of 300BLK mostly because I had a 30 cal suppressor already and the first round pop on my 16″ 5.56 was a wee bit too loud to be hearing safe. It was kind of a boutique round back then, right before Remington bought AAC and then got it SAAMI certified.
Anyway. I made a very serious strategic error. I continued to consider it a boutique round, even as I built more and more 300BLKs. I ended up with an SBR, 3 Pistols, and one rifle, all in 300BLK. When I could see the panic coming back in February, I looked at my stocks and said “eh, a thousand rounds is plenty.” But it was 200 subsonics and 800 mixed-weight supersonics, across five guns.
And now that shit is a buck a round and I’ve had to pull out my old 5.56s and the ammo stash from the 2012 panic.
What in the 2020 is going on?
Definitely not trying to be smug but man am I glad I stocked up on everything I needed a long time ago.
At $1 per primer I might be able to retire after all.
This presents a dilemma, is my primer stash more useful as ammo or money?
