He is well known for the great pro rock compositions and performances alongside Greg Lake and Carl Palmer. But I believe he was the best pianist of his era in that realm.

ELP was a significant part of the music of my younger days.
Keith Emerson was great. But I’d rate him just behind Rick Wakeman as #1. Just a modest opinion.
