The number of ghost guns seized by police has soared, the ordinance says.
The San Jose City Council voted unanimously to approve an ordinance that would ban so-called ghost guns in the city.
The ordinance prohibits the possession, manufacturing, sale, assembly, transfer, receiving and distribution of firearms, as well as related components, that are not imprinted with a federal or state-authorized serial number.

And from the same police department.
SAN JOSE, Calif. – Prosecutors outlined more disturbing details surrounding the arrest of a San Jose police officer who was literally walked out the door of headquarters after he was arrested on suspicion of masturbating at the home of a family who had called for help: He had been eyeing the 23-year-old daughter.
I wonder if his penis was properly serialized. Maybe it was for Harambe?
They are the only ones professional enough after all.

I would like to see these so called“ghost” guns. I bet most have had the serial numbers removed. Its amazing how little most police departments know about firearms. I had a state trooper here who didnt know there were form 2s for legal possession of full auto firearms….
You know, that makes me wonder.
How hard would it be to develop a searchable app that lets a policeman check for a relevant ordinance in a jurisdiction? We’ve already determined cops rarely know the law beyond the basics, but why not at least give them a tool to determine if, in fact, a law is being broken?
Because the cops consider ignorance of the law to be feature not a bug. Whren established cops can be ignorant so they operate on a version of the U-Haul “dumb shit memo”. If the pigs have every law at their fingertips then BS “pretext stops” and “contempt of cop” cases go out the window plus it makes qualified immunity harder to claim
