Like Miguel mentioned on Wednesday, there was zero compliance with New Jersey’s magazine ban. Across the river, the same thing happened after the passage of the NYSAFE act.
Massive noncompliance with SAFE Act
In 2014, attorney and policy analyst Paloma Capanna filed suit on behalf of Rochester-based radio host Bill Robinson seeking data on NY SAFE Act compliance: specifically, how many assault weapons had actually been registered in the state.
Cuomo administration officials first ignored, then denied Robinson’s Freedom of Information Act request. But, on June 22, following two years of litigation, state police released the information based on a court decision which found that while the law forbade the disclosure of the actual registration forms, nothing precluded the release of aggregate data.
That data shows massive noncompliance with the assault weapon registration requirement. Based on an estimate from the National Shooting Sports Federation, about 1 million firearms in New York State meet the law’s assault-weapon criteria, but just 44,000 have been registered. That’s a compliance rate of about 4 percent. Capanna said that the high rate of noncompliance with the law could only be interpreted as a large-scale civil disobedience, given the high level of interest and concern about the law on the part of gun owners.
“It’s not that they aren’t aware of the law,” said Capanna. “The lack of registration is a massive act of civil disobedience by gun owners statewide.”
New Jersey couldn’t get anybody to turn in their magazines, New York got 4% compliance on registration – which isn’t confiscation – and in Florida, nobody has turned in their banned bump stocks.
So just exactly how do Beto and Booker expect their mandatory buyback to work considering that at the state level, ban compliance is somewhere between 0-4%?
Either the government will have to go door to door or the government will have to claim that 2% compliance is a victory.

Hypothetical (?) situation here:
Democrats Ban all guns and deem all gun owners that do not comply as violent armed terrorists that need to be handled by treating them as actual terrorists by killing them as one would in a Warzone or active shooter situation. Massive noncompliance and resistance. The United States government executing United States citizens on United States soil for there guns and political beliefs and affiliation en masse will not go over well with the population at large. Even some progressives I would think but those are in the minority. But one has to understand that in the mind of a far leftist progressive they are justified in whatever action they take and can NEVER be wrong about ANYTHING at all EVER. They are always right, you are always wrong and do not react well when that bubble is popped. If proven to be wrong or lose they will either deny reality or react with violence. So they will view the situation that they created as the justification to seize power and kill and imprison all who oppose. The new far left government after suspending election and seating themselves in permanant power will start massive purges of the populace. But Americans are not like Europe where they willingly run to the ditches they dug to be shot on the back of the head and buried there. There will be resistance. Progressive far left liberals will not understand and will refuse to understand why and if they do comprehend it will view it as illegitimate in the creation of the society they want. And since to the far left progressive they are always right and everything they do is justified in there minds to stay in power they will do anything. I keep saying they would have no problems nuclear holocausting hundreds of million of people because to these people the means, method and body count do not matter as they are right, you are wrong and oppose them and everyone that opposes them is irredeemable and should be killed. They do not value human life at all except as a tool or prop to use to keep or get more power. The only thing about the people who vote for them is they vote for them and ends there. My example is every city that’s a democrat stronghold. They desire there utopia and everyone not worthy of that utopia must be exterminated for the greater good. If that involves killing 100 million people or more so be it. The NYT celebrated Mao because they like many on the left want to do what he did: seize power and kill EVERYONE that opposes them by any means necessary. They hate freedom and individual liberty. Gun ownership is one of the ultimate individual liberties you can have which is why they hate us to the point they want to kill us. We are antithesis to everything they believe and hold dear. And that they can’t simply give an order that says: exterminate all gun owners and everyone who voted and support Trump drives them even more mad.
Again as I keep saying, this sounds like insane hyperbole that will probably not happen but if you look around as to what’s going on and what they want and how they act it seems that is there ultimate goal.
If they get 1-2% compliance, they’ll just lie and claim 25% and how that’s a “good start.”
