I’m going to keep making this point because it’s an important point to be made.
The rifle-wielding suspect who donned a bulletproof vest before allegedly shooting dead five men and injuring two children in Philadelphia has been identified as a Black Lives Matter supporter who shared gun-toting memes on social media.
If you’re carrying a pistol, there isn’t a round you have on you that will penetrate a Level II bulletproof vest.
A center of mass, heart and lung shot is useless.
The good news is that body armor usually doesn’t go below the belly button, since it’s designed to stop heart and lung shots which are rapidly fatal.
Your goal is to stop the danger as fast a possible.
Aim between the top of her dick and the bottom of her belly button.
Pelvis, spinal column, illiac artery, sciatic nerves, sacral plexus, these are your targets.
They might not be as instantly fatal as a heart shot, but they will paralyze the lower half of the body and cause rapid blood loss, enough to bring a fight to a fast finish.
“The good news is that body armor usually doesn’t go below the belly button, since it’s designed to stop heart and lung shots which are rapidly fatal.” – Not exactly. Everything stiff below the belly button will hinder your movement and layers of aramid will bunch when you move and bend over which will degrade its protective value and also push the vest into your throat.
It’s a compromise.
Exactly. The compromise is that body armor generally covers your heart, lungs, liver, and spleen. Organs that if get hit bleed out fast enough that you arrive DOA at the ER. So for ease of movement, armor doesn’t usually go below the belly button. Gut shots hurt, but are generally survivable.
I have had this discussion with several people over the years; whether to aim at center mass or belt line and a little lower. And the argument is that the lower abdomen shots still enable the attackers to keep shooting even though they are down and without mobility. I have watched literally, close to 100 real life situations on video over the years, and the percentage of the time that shots in the hip, lower abdomen area, allow the attacker to keep shooting is very low, as in under 10%. 90% of the time, experiencing a complete loss of mobility, changes the mindset enough to enable the defender to bring the assault to an end. It should be also noted, the last part of the body to move is the lower abdomen area, which provides a slightly longer time to put shots on this specific target area than an upper center mass area, which is usually in a bladed position before the lower abdomen areas is.
Yes, a shot to the pump is the best.
BUT… what happens when that is covered with armor? Do you keep shooting the vest because you can’t get past the center of mass mindset? No, you anchor the asshole with a shot to the pelvis, then evacuate or get them with a Kentucky heart shot when they are on the ground. It’s not the only shot but it’s a good start.
Unless you have a 5.7 with the “right” ammo. ?
Windham has an AR-pistol in .450 Bushmaster 😀
It may not penetrate the armor but it might cause the front and back panels to touch 😀
Hit them, and keep hitting them until they stop whatever made them a threat.
