“Empire” actor Jussie Smollett was ordered released from jail Wednesday, after a court agreed to stay the sentence handed down by a judge last week, according to court documents.

Smollett was sentenced to 150 days in jail and probation after being convicted of falsely reporting to police that he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack in 2019.

A court Wednesday granted a motion that he be allowed to be freed on bond pending an appeal.

The motion asked that the sentence be stayed, or put on hold.

The same people celebrating this miscarriage of justice will be truly surprised and won’t understand when the rest of the crowd decides to bypass the Judicial system altogether and go back to use criminals as target practice while they hang from the nearest vertical rope holder.

  1. With the price of ammo being what it is using their bodies for target practice would be a waste or ammo. Much better to use them as bone meal. At least get something productive out of them.

  2. Damn, $hitty.

Not apropos of the subject at hand, did the “previous” and “next” post links get reversed? I would swear it was left link = older and right link = newer up until recently.

  3. People thought this conviction was a fall from grace for Smollett, but I predict his career will be more successful than ever, especially now that he’s out. Liberals don’t care about this type of insanity. Consequences are things that happen to conservatives. Alec Baldwin will tell you about that. Smollett believes all the correct things. That’s all that matters.

    1. I don’t see that happening. I have been following a few different sites and there is no support for smollett anywhere. Even a telemovie about it all won’t get off the ground if he refuses to admit reality.

Even if they do make one, by hollywood standards he is way too young to play the part. They like casting people about twice the age of the part they are playing. John Travolta – too expensive, Morgan Freeman, too black. I predict Joe Pesci. Perhaps Danny de Vito?

Anyway, it will be all the sweeter when the rogue is returned to prison.

  4. It’s not unheard of for a judge to order a convicted felon released on bail pending appeal. Somewhat unusual before an appeals court has reviewed the case. Also, why go through the expense and tribulation of an appeal that in a sane world (yeah I know) would be eventually denied, for a five month sentence? But it is Chicago, so what can you say.
