WASHINGTON — House Speaker Paul D. Ryan, R-Wis., said Tuesday that Republican leaders had no plans to advance a bill that would make it easier for Americans to purchase gun silencers.

The focus on the silencer legislation, which passed a House committee last month, was magnified Monday after the Sunday night shooting in Las Vegas that left at least 59 dead and hundreds injured.

“That bill is not scheduled now; I don’t know when it’s going to be scheduled,” Ryan said. “Right now we’re focused on passing our budget.”

  1. The difference between Democrats and Republicans is that you can rely on Democrats to oppose your constitutional rights, while with Republicans the odds are only about 90% that they will do so.
    🙁

  2. The GOP has betrayed its voters on every other issue; don’t be surprised to find out that it will betray them on gun rights too.

  3. Ok, raise yer hand if you didn’t see this coming?
Vegas shooting or not, this politikritter would have stabbed us in the back anyways. The current brouhaha in Nevada now is just a convenient excuse for this spineless worm.

    1. Yes, he may have killed the bill. But it absolutely could not be related to an event that had not yet occurred. This is how misinformation gets spread.
