I would not be surprised if I hear about Lefty loonies setting stack of papers on fire.
It is cataclysmic for NYC newspaper to endorse Trump. At best one would be hoping a “We are not endorsing anybody” statement for a publication in the heart of the Blue which is sick with the Democrat candidate.
This is a political nuke bomb.
Wait… was there a “polar vortex” or blizzard in hell recently and was not sensationalized by the Weather Channel?
Maybe the new York times will…
Nah!
By curious contrast, the quite conservative Manchester (NH) Union Leader endorsed Biden, the first D endorsement in a century. I can’t figure out what, if anything, they were thinking. The local news wasn’t much help. I heard a brief reference to the deficit. But while complaining about the deficit under Trump is fine, you’d think they might understand that it would be much worse still under Biden.
I wonder how many subscribers they will lose. For those who like leftist rags, there are already plenty of other options here (like the Boston Glob, or various smaller NH local papers).
Probably a new editor in chief.
I lost all respect for the Economist in 2008 when their first ever Presidential endorsement went to Obama. Turns out there was a change in management. Went from reporting to promoting. End of the line for my readership.
Likewise.
They became political and lost me as a subscriber.
Well… when you “scoop” a major story — a story that by ANY definition is newsworthy, investigative journalism — and the Democrat-aligned Big Tech companies and other media outlets do their level best to bury it and you…
… and it’s the Republicans who stick up for you and promise subpoenas and hearings to combat the censorship and election interference…
Why, you might just decide to break with tradition and support the team who’s demonstrably on your side, against the team who would just as quickly end you!
Honestly, I’d be more surprised if they backed the Dems after all that. Still, it’s a welcome development. 🙂
Hasn’t the Post always been a pro-Trump paper? It certainly has a heavy “low-brow conservative” slant, and I remember it being the only paper I ever saw anything good about Trump in back in 2017 when I had to rely on papers because I had no internet. The WSJ was neutral at best.
