The Constitution Revision Commission, a panel that meets every 20 years and can propose changes to the state constitution, rejected several proposed restrictions Wednesday.

A majority of the members voted that the measures were out of order and couldn’t be considered under the panel’s rules.

Two of the proposals that were rejected asked voters whether they would ban a type of semiautomatic rifle.

A former federal prosecutor wanted Florida voters a chance to decide to add the same restrictions passed recently by the Florida Legislature, including raising the minimum age to buy a gun to 21.

Push to let Florida voters decide gun restrictions fails.

I wonder how much crap they got to suddenly see religion. Do I go as far as assume the Florida GOP has realized the magnitude of the fuck up they committed with SB 7026 and how close they are to lose power that they want to make amends?

Nah…

  1. Has the Florida GOP realized the magnitude of their recent royal screw up? Doesn’t matter anymore. These fucking RINO’s kicked us in the nads, willfully, and now they’re saying they didn’t mean it? Riiiight.
Damage is done, so they better pucker up for the heavy duty political payback that’s headed their way.

    1. Pick two or three with close races and go all in against them.
Primary them. Find a challenger and WORK for the challenger.
Even if you need to find a district fifty miles away.
If that doesn’t work, vote spoiler or even Democrat.
Remind the surviving Republicans on November 7 that they can be next.

If they won’t support gun rights because of principles, make them support gun rights out of FEAR.

And Rick Scott? F that guy in particular.

  2. I’d like to know which of the 32 member commission wanted the auto gun ban. We should be able to know exactly who is who when it comes to the status of state constitution. Is there a source we can access which provides the minutes of their meeting?

    1. From a NRA-ILA email received this morning, it doesn’t say which members of the FCRC are anti-gun dbags but it does mention who stood up to them:

“Among those Commissioners who fought to support, protect and defend the Constitution and the rule of law were: Former Sheriff Emery Gainey, former Senator Don Gaetz, Rep. Chris Sprowls, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Commission Chair Carlos Beruff.”

  3. From the rumor mill at Arfcom:

The reason why this failed and the ONLY reason why is Florida House Speaker Corcoran sent a letter to the commission after receiving pressure from the pro gun representatives (who are in jeopardy for reelection due to our involvement and contact and phone calls etc) raising grave concerns about the commission attempts to ban any weapons.

Former Sheriff/Commissioner Emery Gainey questioned the floor procedure after Coxe, Smith and Martinez tried to persuade the commission that it was in order. Coxe and Martinez pleaded to “waive the rules”. Tim Ciero from the Rules and Administration Committee, called the measures out of order and Attorney General and vice chair of the commission, Pam Bondi was resolute and defended the rules and the 2A. Mr Gainey was not moved and a motion was made by former State Senator Don Gaetz to remove the measure. Martinez and Coxe then tried to persuade the commission to actually disregard the rules and ignore the Constitution.

The measure was defeated by a large majority.

Smith and Martinez and Coxe are traitors to the Constitution and have reneged on their oaths.
