So Janet Reno is dead. Today you will not hear but platitudes directed to her and her great achievement as the first woman Attorney general of the US. My memory however goes back to April 19, 1993 and the Branch Davidian kids that were burned alive at the Waco standoff.
This was the darkest mark the FBI could ever inflict on itself and it was guided by the hand of Janet Reno who out-hoovered J. Edgar Hoover in using the Fibs as political enforcers.
What about the adults inside Mount Carmel? They were adults and they made their decisions, good or bad. But the kids were a different story: they were caught between two groups of stubborn idiots and died because Reno wanted to swing her imaginary dick and prove how tough she was. That the FBI did not consider the boys and girls hostages and went after the compound with armored vehicles knowing that End-of-the-World David Koresh was not the most stable fucker out there was and is inexcusable.
And after that, she was not fired or even chided by President Clinton but commended by her efforts and her weak offering of resigning was dismissed. Reno went on to do more damage with the blessings of the Administration, but I am not gonna extend this post with the list. That image above is all I need to remember.
Now, 23 years later, we are poised to elect another Clinton who thought nothing of the live cremation of children in Texas and supported Reno’s doings. On the “good news” the FBI has once again acquired a black mark, but at list they didn’t used armored cars against kids.
Thank God for small mercies.
PS: I think it is time to re-read Unintended Consequences by John Ross. If you haven’t, go buy the book.
don’t worry, I’m sure the Left will hail her as a hero for being brave, and making the decision to put down a right wing insurrection.
I hope she is burning in hell presently
+1 on SPEMack… Damn her.
Amen on Ross’ UC.
There is a just God and so she will pay eternally for her sins.

Why wouldn’t she? To Hillary, they were just unwanted little problems,
late-term-aborted“taken care of” sometime between the 4th and 75th trimesters. That’s the fundamental difference between the Left and the Right. We value life; they value convenience. To the Left, where life and convenience collide, convenience wins. Every. Single. Time.
That goes double if the loss of life can be spun into political rhetoric, i.e. is politically convenient.
Koresh was known to have made unaccompanied regular shopping visits into nearby shopping areas. He could have been easily taken into custody if that had been the intent. OTOH, the actual intent was to prove government control.
That’s about the size of it.
Just like all those 3 am, “no-knock” SWAT raids on private homes, when the suspect could easily, safely, and peacefully be apprehended outside the home.
But then the sooper-sekrit-skwirl operator ninjas wouldn’t get to operate operationally with their kewl mil-surp operational toys and show those dangerous 3-month-old insurrectionists who’s boss.
The FBI used non-pyrotechnic CS powder.: Before getting approval to introduce CS gas into the complex, the FBI assured Reno that the chemical would not cause a fire. CS will ignite at temperatures exceeding 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit, according to officials at the U.S. Army Chemical and Biological Defense Command. These Army experts said the flammability level is greatly affected by other chemicals mixed with it.
The carrying agent for CS at Waco was methylene chloride. Dow Chemical Corp., the maker of methylene chloride, cautions firefighters that the agent “forms flammable vapor-air mixtures.” A health and safety guide published by the World Health Organization warns: “Do not use methylene chloride in the vicinity of a fire.”
Perhaps shockingly NPR made mention of her tenure during the “contentious” Waco standoff.
