The point of a war college is to teach war.

This is instruction on who they think enemy is.

What conclusion do you come to as to who they think the enemy is?

  1. Huh? Admittedly I’m somewhat of a literalist but her analogy is inane and makes no sense whatsoever.

Back in the 90’s, there was a push in the military against sexual harassment due to Tailhook etc. One of the training classes taught that any sexual encounter not initiated by the woman , including among married couples, was rape.

    1. That means ever sexual encounter between my husband and myself is rape… and we’re both simultaneously the perpetrator and the victim.

      Kinky.

  2. Uuummm. I am one of those privileged white people, my shitty in and out wifi costs me $80 a MONTH . Ya know, fuk these ignorant asshats.

    1. Obviously, you’re not really White.

“Free WiFi” is an empirical and objective measure. You’re paying for WiFi, so you’re not White.

    1. Track down a copy of Johnathan Edwards famous ‘Sinners in the Hand of an Angry God’ sermon from 1741. It’s the same basic premise: you are a fallen and sinful creature, despite no overt acts or even intent, who can only be redeemed by confessing your wickedness, and submitting yourself to a life of obedience to the righteous.

  3. I have yet to find a WiFi access point that asks for skin color to allow access.

    Might be a Chinese thing…

  4. War College is about a lot of things

A break in op tempo for warriors

A chance to think about thinking

Exposure to grand strategy and politics

An examination of your personal and professional preferences wrt leadership and management

A chance to see and be seen by faculty, fellow students and other sometimes, other observers

Intellectual stimulation is a good thing

Professional indoctrination is not a good thing

Sometimes the cost of one is worth the cost of the other

By the time someone gets to war college, their crap detector is pretty finely calibrated

Should they succumb to group think and or political Indoc, well then…they wasn’t worth a shit in the first place.

True politics has no more place in war college than does proselytizing. Yet still they can be found.

Give some credit to senior military folks. There’s still plenty O-5/6s who have a moral compass and can think critically.

Many a war college grad decides to opt out and retire after their payback tour.

I know whereof I speak. Watched my pop go. Went myself. Taught as a professor at one for several years.

    YMMV

  5. Sometimes I get free Wi-Fi at Panera or McDonald’s, but as Rob Crawford said, there is no question about race when I connect at either place. As for home, I pay for it … and do without things like cable TV to do it. I have to pay for my phone, too, every month. Maybe it’s because I’m part Irish….

Only one rule: Don't be a dick.
