Fun Fact:
Quite a few of the guns we call “match locks” were “tinder locks” that means they had a small piece of tinder sponge that ignited the powder in the pan.
A match was still used though to keep the tinder smoldering.
Also the first match locks preceded the model shown by ca. 100 years.
