Chicago Public Schools.

Fewer than 25% of Chicago public school students can read at grade level.

Fewer than 20% of Chicago public school students has math proficiency.

More than 25% of Chicago public school students drops out before graduation.

But good news, the State of Illinois has a solution for this.

Illinois Senate plan would include LGBT history in schools

Oh goody.  Chicago students will still be unable to read, write, or do the basic math they need to function in society; but at least they will know which significant historical figures took it in the butt.

I don’t want to sound like a prude or a bigot here, but is to too much to ask the kids to be able to have the ability to read and comprehend written instructions and to be able to do simple arithmetic – you know, the kind of skills useful for an entry level job – BEFORE we get to the ass fuckery?

I don’t give a shit who you sleep with, but I do care that it takes a calculator for you to give me back change for a $20.

  1. It is always fun (and a little sad) to watch these kids struggle with basic math.

Say you are at restaurant and the bill is $15.35. You hand them $20, which they dutifully type in the cash register… and then you hand them 35 cents you happen to remember you had. Their blank stares follow quickly after that, until you explain to them the change they need to hand you back.

  2. Same thing was brought up when CPS kids were being bused to protests across the state using school funds and for various teacher union causes.
