From the Star Tribune:

Seems that insurance caps demolition at $25,000 to $50,0000.  Due to the number of damaged properties from the riots, bids are five to ten times that.

Remember that the Left – including some elected officials – said the riots were fine because these people had insurance.

So I think there is a remedy for this: seizure.

Seize the bail fund for the rioters, including the bail money they already paid (which forces those out on bail to be remanded) and disburse that money to small business that need money for demolition and to rebuild.

Only seems fair that the Leftists who raised money for the rioters – including the VP Candidate Kamala Harris herself- can have that money put to good use.

  1. From the linked article:
“Contractors acknowledge that prices for riot-related work are far higher than usual, but they said that is because government regulations require them to treat all debris from a burned-out building as hazardous. Industry veteran Don Rachel said those rules can double demolition costs.”

The government makes rules that increase the cost of demolition, then government officials cry “price gouging” and the business owners face bankruptcy, and Minneapolis is turned into a wasteland that resemble Berlin in 1945. Pre-riots, what business owner would buy insurance to cover $300,000 in demo costs for a $300,000 building? Post-riots, what business owner will even consider rebuilding in that area? I’m sure glad the city let the “mostly peaceful protesters” do their thing without interference.

    1. Re rebuilding, we were hearing the cries starting up about “food deserts” and “pharmacy deserts” about a week after the first burnings occurred.

And, yes, what business owners in their right minds would want to rebuild here now? Even if they think it won’t happen again, or to them, the cost of insurance is going to be astronomical.

      1. Maybe, just maybe, the people crying about food deserts shouldn’t burn down their local businesses.

    1. Then again… If you help criminals, even if you don’t throw the Molotov cocktails yourself, legally you’re an accomplice. And in any event you’re complicit.
How many of the “peaceful protestors” actually help stop the criminals that hide amongst them? I haven’t heard of very many.
