You would figure after the lessons of the wars of the 20th Century, leaders may have learned that you do not scare predators by being meek sheep and fuzzy pink bunnies but by have a bigger set of fangs and a demonstrated willingness to use them.

There are no “good guys” in this scenario.
There are wars worth fighting – this is not one of them.
I can’t wait for all the people who called conservatives Nazis and then cheered violence start arguing that Putin only used the term Nazi as an excuse to start a war.
