Venezuela closed 2015 with a rate of 90 violent deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, a historical figure that would make him the most violent country in the world without war, said Monday the Venezuelan Observatory of Violence (OVV).

Not one single firearm has been sold to civilians in Venezuela since 2012. Gun control is so tight that even spear guns must be registered and a permit acquired for its use. Those who are lucky to be allowed to have a gun bought prior the cessation of sales, needs to have it registered, secured and only allowed 50 rounds of ammunition a year.

There are plenty more Gun Control regulations that I won’t get into, but what was promised to be a sure-fire method to control violence has proven to be its biggest fuel. And still some believe the same plan will actually work here.

The experiment is over: Gun Control is a failure.

Common sight every Monday morning in Caracas: Relatives waiting for the autopsies to be over so they can cliam the bodies of their loved ones who fell to violence during the weekend.

  1. Under the metric that trying the same failed policy while expecting different results can be classified as insanity, Gun Control should surely be classified as a form of psychosis. 90 kills per 100K residents is absolutely beyond the pale, and the anti-gunners have the audacity to call us the depraved ones.

That said, I think the psychosis runs deeper. These anti-gun punks are probably undiagnosed megalomaniacs in addition to being paranoid and hoplophobic. They fear the guns except ‘in the right hands’ (usually government agents, to whit history does not show a favorable record of use of power), and they fear the Hard Right America that exists outside the major metropolitan centers, hence hoplophobia and paranoia. The megalomania has only truly surfaced in the past few years, whereby they want the police to kill legal gun owners and even advocate SWATting personnel. The sheer joy they experience when a legal gun owner is slain is almost psychopathic, and definitely reinforces their desire to acquire and abuse power.

The abuses of government over the past few centuries are in and of themselves frightening, but God save us from these lone wolf psychopaths that abuse the State’s organs for their ends.

    1. And if you point out all the times socialism has been tried and failed, they’ll just go on about how that country didn’t do it right, and how this time it will work because we’ll do it harder.

  2. When will they learn no certain weapon causes violence it is the problematic people that are violent and doesn’t care how they get the job done.Guns are a tool and when used correctly can be a deterrent. They can’t seem to get pass the false hope of a utopia that doesn’t even exist and never can in the real world.
