“She saw the [car] wreck,” [Don] Flanary said. “She ran back inside to get her phone to report the accident. She came back out while on the phone with 911. The men at the funeral home yelled, ‘He has a gun!’ She saw him jump the fence, and he had a gun so she ran back inside.

“She kicked the rock away when she went back in. She remembers pulling the door closed while telling 911 that he was shooting. She thought the door would lock because that door is always supposed to be locked.”…

A law enforcement source familiar with the investigation said surveillance video and audio verifies the employee removed the rock holding the door open and closed it.

“She slammed it shut,” said the source, who requested anonymity because the source does not have authority to speak with the media.

Cops wrong again: Uvalde teacher says she didn’t prop open door that shooter used to enter; Update: Cops no longer cooperating? – HotAir

I really don’t know what else can go wrong for the LEOs in Uvalde. One of the most basic principles in life is not to compound a monumental screw up with an avalanche of smaller screw ups. If you made a mistake, admit it, absorb the punishment, learn the lessons and offer a better service. You can only lie if you have a solid backing from the Media and in case you have not noticed, Police Officers have been hated for a long time now by the Lefty Journos who unashamedly support BLM and ACAB movements.

I would ask how bad this thing can get, but I am afraid of the answers that will come.

  1. Teacher needs to sue the living schidt out of every asshole who said she propped it open. And then some.

LE’s need to stop covering up and excusing their own.

  2. The hero of Uvalde has to live with the lying, cowardly local cops and highway patrol, of course he’ll back the blue.

  3. Yeah, but two things still stand out. The teacher (and/or other teachers) have a habit of using that door to go outside and using a rock to prop it open so they can get back in. That’s a piss poor habit for a supposedly secure environment where you need to have a single controlled access point. And two, why didn’t the door lock when the teacher pulled it closed? Was the lock broken? Deactivated? Don’t go tell everyone about all the security measures in place if you can’t even get a door to lock closed.

So yes, cops lied. But also school security measures were defeated by an unlocked door. That definitely deserves follow-up. And cops standing in the hallway for 80 minutes while kids were being executed? Everyone there should be fired and potentially prosecuted.

  4. Lie or early misunderstanding? Everything in the first 48 hours or so has to be understood as incomplete information.

  5. Even of the door was left open (or unlocked), it does not excuse the cops who stood around harassing parents instead of taking the shooter out. The commander who made the call for this to be a barricaded gunman instead of an active shooter is the primary at-fault. Next would be the dozens of cops standing around with automatic rifles and body armor who declined to challenge that call – no one thought that was a bad idea? Was it even questioned?

No matter where this ends up, I would expect to see quite a few wrongful death lawsuits by parents against the LE agencies on site.

  6. Imagine if the teacher had her firearm with a permit to carry in school and her cell phone?

This likely would have been a local news story. “Teacher kills armed intruder at Robb Elementary.”

19 children might be enjoying their Summer Vacation today.

    1. That is the biggest item right there. And the reason that wasn’t what happened is that the city school board prohibited it — by official government policy the schools were made into defenseless victim zones.

This is where state legislatures can fix things quickly, by passing laws overriding such evil policies and authorizing staff with CC permits to carry on school grounds, any local policies to the contrary notwithstanding. For extra credit, make local officials personally liable for attempting to disarm staff.
