Violence is a mindset.

You have to be willing to commit violence.

You have to be willing to hurt, possibly maim, it even kill another human being.

Take this video.

I’ve seen a lot of comments about how easy it would have been to stop this person.

Bash him on the head so that he falls off the ladder.

Yes.

Except it was clear the person recording this was unwilling to employ that much violence.

It’s not about the opportunity, it’s the will.

Are you willing to cave in the skull of a man trying to break into your house with a knife?

If you’re reading this blog, the answer is probably “yes.”

For many people, the answer is “no.”

If you want to survive a violent encounter, you must be prepared to dish out violence.

  1. Some how people have been conditioned that meeting violence with violence is “wrong”.. when it’s exactly what must be done… you don’t look forward to it, you just do it when its time..

  2. Either way, yes or no, it’s something to decide before the moment of need. Mrs. B and I had some serious conversations when we got our first “serious” gun, revisited them at various times e.g. when concealed carry permits were sought.

I have no real quarrel with those who say no – it’s a personal choice after all, and I respect others’ right to make it – but at least think about it a little bit when you have the leisure to do so. Otherwise there’s a much higher chance you will “lock up” and wind up getting yourself, or someone you care about, seriously hurt or killed because you couldn’t take any action.

    1. @it’s just Boris:

“I have no real quarrel with those who say no…”

As long as they don’t restrict my firearm ownership/access.

      1. Indeed … there’s an implied but very important “…for themselves” caveat to the scope of such decisions.

    1. Or you’re somehow stuck in the Peter Lynch version of Dune
      .
In which case, I submit you likely have bigger problems. 🙂

  3. What a bold one.

Any idea where this took place? I couldn’t help but notice that someone in this scene was named “Mohamed.
