If you still have in your bucket list to visit the Big Apple, do it soonish rather than later. Unless something fundamental in their politics happen, I believe it will become the stuff of societal nightmares.

Just spent a week in NJ. Changed out my hollow points to FMJ to potentially dodge an extra felony. I have no interest in visiting a city that is a sensitive area.
“become”? I don’t think the future tense is suitable for that statement.
I spent a week in Manhattan in 1973. Felt pretty safe, probably more so than I really was. Can’t think of a reason to go back. Ditto Chicago. And I’ve highly dubious about DC.
