That’s something Democrats say to foment doubt in conservatives.
It’s basically a rephrasing of, “We were against slavery before it was cool.”*
To which my response would be, “And since you said the parties switched philosophies, now you’re in favor of slavery because it’s cool?”
Like, can we not just agree that slavery is bad? Or is it too much to ask Democrats to join with Republicans even on that basic truth?
And like anything else Democrats say, verify before you trust.
