Charlie Daniels, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame best known for “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” died Monday morning after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke. He was 83.

Daniels’ death was confirmed by his publicist, Don Murry Grubbs. He is survived by his wife, Hazel, and son Charlie Daniels Jr.

The Tennessean.

This one hurts. I had never heard of him before I went to Nashville in 82 and I ended up going Volunteer Jam in 1984 with a fever of 102. It was some of the most fun I had.

Someweher in the depths of a trunk, there is an old denim jacket with a patch that reads: “My two best friends are jack and Charlie Daniels.”

Rest in Peace, Charlie and thank you for the music and the patriotism.

Semi-retired like Vito Corleone before the heart attack. Consiglieri to J.Kb and AWA. I lived in a Gun Control Paradise: It sucked and got people killed. I do believe that Freedom scares the political elites.
