Some of you have already reported the site back up, but a lot are reporting the site still out depending on the browser and nothing on mobile devices.
I just finished with a tech rep and the usual measures are not working, so they kicked this upstairs.
I’ll be waiting for their call. Once again, my apologies.
Content Encoding Error
An error occurred during a connection to gunfreezone.net.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.
Whatever’s going on, it’s Weird.
I first saw this post during a brief interval of access, before it Stopped Working again.
When it’s not working, I get exactly nothing on Chrome, Brave, and Vivaldi; Firefox gives an uninformative message about a “content encoding error.” All this is on Linux, on two different desktop machines (with very different vintages of Debian). I get similar results on a Windows 7 VM: same error from Firefox, and a generically uninformative Microsoftian message from IE.
Using wget to fetch the main page works uneventfully.
Now, here’s something strange: I’m commenting from Chrome on my Linux laptop (running the latest Mint). Works fine.
So… something, somewhere, is causing your server to do something wonky in response to any browser running in certain contexts, and I’m not clear on what the context might be (Windows VM on a Linux box that’s having the problem? That doesn’t seem like a closely-related context, other than aspects of the network routing maybe).
