Gov. Bill Lee says the state’s release to police departments and sheriff’s offices the names and addresses of Tennesseans who have tested positive for the coronavirus is necessary to protect officers’ lives — information that is also being independently shared between city health officials and police in Nashville.
That is absolute bullshit. A total invasion of privacy under the excuse of safety. And you know why? I’ll show you.
Tennessee, Nashville health officials provide names of those testing positive for HIV to police

Those old enough remember the shitstorm that happened when the mere idea of having HIV victims to inform people like dentists and medical personnel about their status was like asking if they were Jews and need to be separated from the Arians? Cops have a bigger chance of contracting life-threatening diseases like HIV and Hepatitis C dealing with criminals than dying from Wuhan V. yet there is no database to inform cops what citizens are infected nor it is legal IIRC.
What the f***ing Soviet enterprise is happening in the Volunteer state?
Hat Tip Christine Z.

The governor, who is the most conservative governor we have had in my lifetime, also issued his stay at home order after tracking the cell phones of every single resident of Tennessee and finding that we weren’t following the voluntary guidelines closely enough for his liking.
I’m ditching every device I own that has a GPS and a transmitter of some sort.
Conservative my hind end. Guy requested not long ago that we receive “refugees” without any input from his electorate.
This man is the other side of the same coin of government. I want a new coin.
Ummm… HIPPA, anyone?
Unlike HIV, the current Pestilence can apparently be spread by casual contact.
On the other hand, there are enough undiagnosed infected people out there that this seems rather pointless. That, the incentive noted by Reltney Mcfee above, medical ethics… yeah, Not A Good Move.
Kind of the antipodal foolishness of “nursing homes may not discriminate against the infected” as seen in certain other states.
